side skirts rear diffuser and splitter - colour choice
I am going have a front splitter side skirt extension and a twin pipe rear diffuser fitted next week or so.
Car is black. The original and current rear diffuser is a dark metallic grey colour. The skirts and diffuser are Matt black plastic splitter is factory gloss black. I'm in a dilemma about colours for the new parts. The easy perhaps safe answer is gloss black all round. Or the dark grey all round or matt black all round or a mix of the above. I'm really hopeless at this sort of thing. Advice welcomed please. I'm not going CF wrap or orange or something else equally whacky |

I think all black and it might possibly look a little loss, The matt plastic look is OEM but that might look a little cheap, would smooth matt black look any better? I dont know how id find the dark grey all round, what colour are the alloys?

If you're having it all painted then how about satin black.
An alternative to painting is a good coat of polish on the matt plastic and then it goes satin. Problem is you'll have to re do the polish every few months. I did the matt black plastic diffuser and it looks, in my opinion, really good. Understated yet just right. Not too glossy, and not lost as matt was. Then again, mine is against Estoril Blue so it does stand out a bit more than it would on yours.

I've been pondering the same re rear MP diffuser. The matt plastic OEM works IMO with certain colours, white and blue F3Xs seem to look ok (check out the 3/440 thread - there is both painted and unpainted examples). But think I'm going to get mine painted the same as the grilles - "piano" (same as gloss?!) black.

Satin black. That's a decent shout. Agree the matt plastic will cheap. Satin black as halfway option between gloss and matt. Wheels are the regular 19" grey and diamond cut alloys you get on a 335d m sport. I don't know the code number. Any further ideas? |

Oh eck. This is getting harder with more options.
The grey one does look good. But its about living with it and I'm tempted to say while I like it in photos I may tire of it in real life? Gloss black and doesn't look to "lost". in those images so maybe that the way forward.... |

So far I have price of £650 for painting and fitting the splitter, diffuser and side skirts. This includes a small section of the existing bumper I scraped. Buying the parts depends on the supplier you choose. |

That is a dilemma, both the satin and gloss look fabulous but, for me, the gloss is just edging it, it depends if you want contrast or blend in, the gloss definitely doesn't look Halfords, it looks class/factory.

I agree with you on the painting. On my previous F31 had the wings on the front splitter painted in the SBM and on the current car (although it's fitted) I'm going to paint the rear diffuser in body colour but leaving the centre finned section OEM finish (satin black). All makes it look as part of the original car not an add on kit. |

Thanks for all the advice and pictures.
Really helped. I think I'll go for the sapphire black metallic paint on all sections |

So picked it up yesterday. Very pleased. Exhaust fitted next week so the rear diffuser will go on. It's painted and ready to go.

Looking at those pictures when my diamond cut wheels are corroded and almost certainly kurbed, I think a gun metal grey or similar slightly metallic finish all over would look very cool. Anyone done this? |
