Another reason why Brexit is actually not a bad thing!

But we'll leave that argument for another day...

I agree - going to jump on this now I think. Much as I like the idea of the X3M the M40i is more than enough for me and scratches the 6-pot petrol itch....

I agree. Wrong time for me but if I was in a position to buy I'd be straight on to a X3 M40i or M40d.

As someone else said, not going to get much better. They might be flexible, but Stratstones at least have said it's for stock cars only, once they're gone, they're gone. I wouldn't wait.

Interest rates and contribution are unlikely to move in the quarter.

Once Q1 comes around car companies usually reset for the year and the deals get worse as they try to start the year off well, without stupid discounting.

You can spec the (slightly) better seats now too.

Only if they're willing to do the same offer on new orders, not the stock cars Stratstones offers are based on.

You'd be bloody mad to buy a car from Stratstone anyway! I'd rather travel and buy a car elsewhere.

When I bought mine their Q3 offer was about £80 a month better than anyone else. I checked.

I'd have been mad buying anywhere else.

Plus, I've done alright out of the wheels cock up as well, I doubt Sytners or Lancaster would have given me an M5 Competion for the weekend.

From my experience, the name on the dealers door makes very little difference, it's the individual sales person that you deal with that makes the difference.

I think you are right.
To be fair I've lost the appetite for new cars, enjoying the money in my pocket at the moment and a F31 340 ain't exactly a hardship.

I've had a shocking experience buying a used car from them, then gave them another chance about 5 years later and the experience was repeated. I'll never use the Derby branch again.

What are the real world mpg figures for the 40d?
It does seem the best combo the 40d engine in the X3 if you aren't a mad petrol head.
I'm averaging 38 mpg over the first 1400 miles, mixture of countryside, town and a fair bit of motorway. My 440i lifetime average was 33 for the same profile.
That seems pretty impressive.

I'm not outrunning my 440i by anything like the same percentage despite more motorway, although i do expect it to improve. 27.1 vs. 30. (For those that don't know, my comparison is far less relevant - a tank of a Disco 3.0 diesel).

But it is interesting to me - BMW always seem streets ahead when it comes to getting the best economy out of a given package. 38 out of a full time 4wd SUV, even a medium one, is great going.

How does your Q7 fare in the same conditions, Alex, or does that never happen?

Can’t believe I’m asking this, as someone who definitely would class themselves as a SUV sceptic but does anyone know what point he option to VT would kick in based on those deals?

Think of it as a crossover and get it ordered or one of the M40 versions. Great deals :-)

I have the same question would the VT point be 24 months? a mate of mine had some issues with VT and BMW deposit but I know nothing about the subject really

Cheers looked at the T&C I can see this below. I might ask if I can sort out the deal and defer delivery to early March for my lease handback.

Finance examples are for BMW Select agreements for the models shown above. Applies for new vehicles ordered between 1 October 2019 and 31 December 2019 and registered by 31 March 2020

I can vouch for Sandal Huddersfield. Great service and communication and they also matched my best internet deal when buying my 335d.
They are family owned, so reputation means everything to them.

By my calculations you would never reach VT point!

Total credit is £56k, divided by two is £28k, minus £549 and then divided by £549 equals 50 months VT point!

Unless it’s the total amount of £77k divided by two equals £38.5k minus £21k equals £17.5 divided by £549 equals 32 months VT

F’d if I can remember which method is correct!

I strongly suggest that you drive an X3M Comp before going any further with this idea. I thought that the deal sounded great and I really wanted to like the car when I borrowed one yesterday, but the suspension just isn’t suitable for UK roads in my view.

I spent the first 40 miles trying to convince myself that it was firm but manageable, but by the end of the day I reluctantly had to admit that it spoiled the car. The interior and seats are great. The engine is just sublime, but if you can’t drive around without every imperfection being transmitted into the cabin, that makes it unsuitable as a daily driver in my view. I occasionally drive 300 miles straight, and I don’t think that would be a pleasant experience in this car.

I would be really interested to hear how others get on with their test drives.

Think you are correct sir, from reading it’s 50% of total amount payable including interest etc and the GFV. Total payable is 82k ish therefore 41k would be reached by month 75 not so appealing now as I would only want 3 years assuming my figures are correct of course!

I sent my mate this deal and he went to check the X3M out today and take it for a test drive.

He didn’t rate the car because of the very firm ride and also the engine. He said it had plenty of power and sounded great on start up and on the limit but you’d never know it was an M car other than that. He actually got the salesman to drive the car past him so he could listen to it from the roadside. I’ve no doubt if he’d loved the car he would have gone ahead and ordered one as the lease on his GLC AMG 43 is up next year.

He’s a bit fickle and the engine noise wouldn’t bother me and l’d expect a firm ride, but would second that it’s worth checking the car out and taking a test drive if considering this deal.

You definitely have to take off the £20.5k dealer deposit contribution (i.e. discount), just can’t remember if you do that before or after halving the total payable.
