Police 330D should be towcar of the year
From twitter:-
"Water tanker broke down in middle of a very busy junction on the A5 today. Our 63 plate BMW with 200000+ miles on it effortlessly towed it to a safe location to await recovery. The driver was extremely pleased & grateful of our assistance. #righttoolsforthejob #roadspolicing" |

Indeed. A reg check comes back with a 530d too.

The 30d is a great engine but I'm not sure I'd call that a tanker. If the car had pulled a 40T HGV up a 1:3 then I'd be impressed.

I remember 25+ years ago watching a Police Range Rover pull a 53 seater coach off the motorway onto the hard shoulder which I thought was impressive.

Understandably, a police car is very well looked after (service wise) - on the roads, not so much thanks to chasing scrotes |

Yep, and supposedly not even mapped. 335 and 330 both do 155mph, one might get there a bit quicker that's all.
330 is no slouch and when you don't own it then there's no need to be mechanically sympathetic (drive it like you stole it), it'll stay with anything the crims have. Ever watched Traffic Cops, nothing actually pulls away, coppers give up when the scum start taking too many risks with other peoples lives is all.

I imagine they take the repair costs into consideration when choosing the cars. The transfer box and additional drive gubbins for the front axle will undoubtedly take a pummelling in the traffic cars I imagine. Perhaps that explains the choice... Yep seen Traffic Cops both on the telly box and also in the flesh living in West Yorkshire.. |

I remember one episode of traffic cops when they were complaining they could not keep pace with the majority of cars stolen ie. hot hatches. |
