Man, with those codes, I had a feeling. Just goes to show that sometimes we overthink and believe a problem is more complicated than it actually is. Has happened with me more than once, that’s for sure. I’m glad it was something so simple. Are you able to return the MAF?

Yes, I can return it within 30 days... Im going to make sure I dont get a MAF code in the next week or so before returning...

Ive cleaned it twice now.

Only reason I want to double check is because the MAF code actually appeared first and separate from the boost codes... then with them... then the boost codes appeared without the MAF code...

So its a bit contradictory.

Makes me wonder how tight it ever was.

At this point Im cleaning the original MAF meter again and clearing codes to see what happens over the next week.

New MAF arrived but Im not sold I need it yet.

I suspect the boost related two codes will be gone... hoping the MAF code disappears too... leaving me with one known code (catless downpipe).

Worst case, MAF code reappears and I will swap sensors. Wont be surprised if it does but want to make sure now that I know I had a boost leak.

Question: is driving around with a boost leak (very casually) for a week or so an issue for damaging anything else?

I only made it do the engine malfunction two times. 96% of the time I baby my car around.
Glad ya found it. Sorry for leading you astray with the MAF sensor thing! It just made too much sense having gotten the code, cleaned it and then drivetrain malfunction... Either way looks like a super easy fix.

And driving around with a boost leak isn't the end of the world. It's obviously best to get it fixed sooner rather than later, but take it easy and she'll be fine.

That’s definitely the smart thing to do. Let us know how it goes.

Hey, if you wanna pay for shipping (probably $50-60...)
I have all my stock turbo inlet, charge pipes, and air intake. Which was all working (30k miles) I can have my brother send it to you.

BimmerLink

Same developer as BimmerCode

Highly recommend both!

*you'll also need a Vgate WiFi dongle to connect to OBD port.

How’s it going? Has tightening that clamp resolved your issues?

Definitely no boost leak anymore... Ive been holding out a few days before checking codes, trying to get an accurate picture before sending the MAF back...

Will check codes this afternoon and report back.

As of now, the CEL has returned which is expected because of the catless down pipe. We shall see what other codes are or are not present!

Only code present (a week later) is the catalyst code. Pretty happy all these codes were the result of a boost leak. Its also possible that the double cleaning of the MAF helped as well.

Guess Ill be returning the MAF meter I purchased on eBay.

Nice easy fix. Sorry for misleading you with the MAF!

No worries whatsoever. Its returnable...

I should have made sure no boost leaks before purchasing anything. I was surprised that clamp was loose like that!

Idk if its possible to unscrew or I forgot to crank that specific clamp down on install.

Yah weird for it to come off like that. Makes you wonder if it was ever on right in the first place...

I'm sure it'll be fine. If blows off again, and the screw is loose, maybe get a new clamp, or use a zip tie along with the clamp.
