Hi all,

Black kidney grilles have arrived, to go on my sapphire black 440i F32.

Keen to go OEM where possible, but wanted to check on what people have done with spoilers. The official one is matt black or there is the carbon option. Can anyone comment or post their own pics of how these look and how easy to fit?

There seem to be a lot of aftermarket versions as well, can anyone recommend a specific brand? EBay seems to be full of them and I don't want a dud fit or equally worse a poor finish.

Would you paint/wrap matt black to a more gloss finish on a Sapphire Black car?

Cheers

I just fitted one from an eBay seller I have used for all my cars. Never been able to fault the quality or the colour match (link is below) I think its pretty OEM and for me looks spot on with the car! Delivery was only 4 days as well

It takes 10 mins to fit and the 3M tape always holds if you make sure the surface is clean and warm.

Fitted a genuine matt black one to my F32, 3M tape has been holding it in place over the warmest , longest summer we have had and through the minus temps over the last week or so. As the side decals and grills were matt black i thought a carbon one would look out of place.

Hi Aquazi, there are 2 spoilers, a carbon one and a matt black as I understand it - the front splitter is carbon only

Kendo & Lincoln, thanks for these! Both look great! I'm East coast of Scotland so if yours is handling business on the West then it must be robust enough

Oh i didnt realise they had a matt one too. I have the lower M performance bits - but wasnt keen on a shiny top boot spoiler when my rear diffuser is matt and unpainted.

The genuine one looks smart to be fair - but then the eBay one is a proper bargain painted.

I went with the OEM carbon fibre spoiler from a dealership on eBay. I fitted it myself with 3M tape for about £10. Very happy with how it looks, ties together well with the MPPSK carbon exhaust tips.

I still need to get that diffuser at some point though to finish it off.

Oooof that's lovely. I'm still hovering on which version to buy, matt or carbon. Good to know it can be applied easily. I do worry about doing a poor job and damaging paint if I had to try again!

I just received the OEM M Performance grilles, carbon spoiler and pedals yesterday so looking forward to fit over the weekend.

I had the OEM matte spoiler on my F30, and trust me, you would need to paint it. I don't think it looks good at all as is, especially on a black car. Unless of course you go with an aftermarket painted one.

On the F32 I went with carbon, as I eventually want to get the full body kit in carbon. It looks really good! I'd recommend it over a colour match. Even more so on a black car if contrasting elements are not your thing.

Thanks for the advice chaps. As a question, I've seen some spoilers which seem to run the length of the leading edge of the boot and then they have an overhang, and some which seem to be fitted an inch or two in and the edge of the spoiler runs parallel to the edge of the boot.

Is this just an OEM vs aftermarket type thing? They all look great. I definitely want one that is a proper black, sounds like matt wouldn't work against my colour. Seems odd the grilles are high gloss but the spoiler isn't!

To be fair anybody worrying about the carbon one, it looks gloss black anyway, you can only see the carbon weave very close up.
I have gloss black grills, gloss black front splitter along with the standard gloss black window trims & it looks fine to me with carbon mirror covers, carbon boot spoiler & carbon exhaust tips. I’ve also left the rear diffuser & side skirt extensions Matt black as they come & nobody has commented that it’s not a perfect match.

Exactly that. I still wouldn't fit a matte black one though.

The OEM M Performance spoiler for the F32 is the one that 'looks' to be fitted in an inch or so. There are aftermarket versions of this as well. Everything else is aftermarket and replicas of spoilers for other models, but that are made to fit the F32. A popular one is the V-shaped M4 spoiler, but there are many others as well. You wouldn't be able to fit an OEM M4 spoiler to an F32.

Thanks for the info, I am still hovering on getting the splitter too - was that an OEM or aftermarket one? Any recommendations are appreciated here from people who have real world experience of fit and feel

I went for the Maxton design front splitter instead of the OEM one as its not as low & not anywhere as ridiculously expensive, access to my drive is on a bit of an incline to it wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes.

It's a piece of gloss black plastic, over priced IMO although I did get a discount code so worth searching. It's an easy fit using self tappers from underneath the bumper, I didn't use the supplied bolts as you need access from inside the bumper to tighten these & also if it gets caught on something I would rather it just ripped off rather than taking the bumper with it

Maxton M4 style spoiler and your front splitter arrived this week... look forward to fitting!

ordered some self-tappers but may take to pros to fit as I am useless at that sort of stuff.

Hi scotgc,
Can you tell me where you purchased your matte black spoiler from.

Thanks!
