Talking What's your case? (Key case, that is)

BIMMERPOST

Well I recently got a couple of key cases from the stealership while getting the complimentary car wash over the weekend. I thought I'd share some pix just in case anyone is wondering how they fit and look...

Note: For those who like the version on the right side, there is an exact key case that does NOT have the elastic band....for those with actual metal keys I suppose. The one without the elastic band is slightly cheaper as well.

I have the same style as the one on the left. Quite expensive for what it is, nice quality though and protects the key.
Only problem is the key is loose on the spindle and rattles around and flips out too easily. To remedy this I wrap some plastic tubing around the spindle so there is no play. Feels much better.

Too big. Especially with the huge F30 keys. Having a 4.7" iPhone and wallet in my pockets is already annoying.

I have the one on the left too, but with blue to match the blue trim on my interior. What I did to solve the looseness on the spindle is to attach Velcro between the side of the fob and the inner edge of of the cover. I rarely need to swing it out anyway because of comfort access. And yeah it is a big bulky, but I don't mind.

I'm pretty sure the one on the right is for the previous key design, hence why it bulges so much around the bulky F30 key.

I like the one on the left, but the key is so big it's already a snug fit in most pants' key-pockets, where I like to leave it since I never need to push any buttons on it. So for now mine is naked.

I just use a key chain.

Key is way bigger than it needs to be. With my condo fob (which is way too big also) it gets really bulky.

Me too. It's fine the way it is with a light keychain for the house key etc.

Had those with my E46. Today's keys are too damn big IMO. With today's tech I expect them to be same size or smaller than my E90 fob.

I got the blue key case for my wife since she keeps the key in the purse (duh...)
I don't use one for mine. Fits perfectly in that small pocket of jeans.

I think the only practical reason for a case would be to not hit or depress a button accidentally.

I had the blue one. Returned it. Too big and it seemed like a hassle to remove from the case.
