They finally got mounting module part for radiator in yesterday. Dealer installed new radiator and guards today and AC back to normal. Took about 1 month for whole process. SA said first car he has seen with the guards.

Sharing an update.
The dealer tried to install the radiator guards but apparently the parts sent from Germany are for a vehicle _without_ an oil cooler. My vehicle had an oil cooler and requires a different part. Worth noting. Quite a bit of email traffic is in progress between the dealer and BMW engineers. Sometime on Tuesday, I will post an update. |

My local BMW dealer indicated that the radiator guard shipped from Germany were for a vehicle _without_ an oil cooler. My 2017 BMW 440 GC has an oil cooler so the dealer could not complete the work. The dealer is now discussing the issue with BMW AG to determine the right part numbers. If anyone successfully had radiator guard installed _with_ an oil cooler? Please post the repair invoice and part numbers. The process continues. |

Extra radiator ie: oil cooler. It's on the passenger side where the fog light would have went.

To all forum members who have successfully retrofitted radiator guards at their local dealer:
I could use your help. There is a dialog in progress with my local dealer in SoCal about retrofitting radiator guards. The dealer is unable to perform the installation because my vehicle (details below) has a transmission oil cooler preventing installation of rock guard. The dealer opened a PUMA case with BMW. My vehicle: 2017 BMW 440i Gran Coupe, built in July 2016, M Sport package, M Sport brakes, Track Handling Package. I already know that the original radiator - P/N 17-11-8-482-625 - has been discontinued. The radiator listed as compatible with rock guards is PN 17-11-8-741-830. It's very likely that the radiator may have to be replaced as well but it's unrelated to the question of why transmission oil cooler precludes installation of rock guards. If the rock guards have been successfully retrofitted on your vehicle with B58 engine, can you provide details about your vehicle? - Year, model, build date - M Sport or not - M Sport brakes or not - Track Handling Package or not |

Don't see how these rock guards would protect against anything except very large boulders. A very large rock could hit the guard and still ricochet into the rad. Probably best to avoid areas with large flying rocks or taking your car off roading.

If you driven in NJ or NYC every street has the potential of a boulder made out of ash fault or concrete flying at your car.

Update.
BMW finally provided a new part number - 17-11-9-487-034 - for the right side mount that should allow mounting the transmission oil cooler together with radiator guards. This part has been ordered but ... neither BMW US or BMW Canada have this part, no stock in Germany, no ETA either. |

NormanConquest Thanks! I plan to make periodic inquiries with my local dealer. Apparently, 13 parts just like the one my vehicle needs have been ordered already.
