If it were my car I'd try chasing the threads with a good bottoming tap, but if that didn't work I'd install Timeserts - I would not use helicoils on this application.

I don't see why you'd want to use any type of insert. You'd have to tap the hub to a 16mm thread, so just use a 16mm bolt.

That would work on anything bar hubs, Wouldnt the wheels then need to be drilled out? You'd then have to jump up a socket size, is there room for a bigger socket in the standard wheel holes?

Replace all the hubs is the ideal solution, Thread chaser is next best thing if it was only 1 hole. Next would be to weld and re drill and tap the flange and then lastly a timesert.

Potentually expensive mistake forsure!

I still want to know how this happened. What in hell were you using to tighten the lug bolts? I'm skeptical.

In addition to the centering ring, the lugs also play a role in centering the rim. I wouldn't mess with retapping/helicoils, you will never reach the level of precision needed to avoid vibration. Replace the hubs. Easy DIY with a hub+bearing puller.

Easy DIY? Hmm. Maybe at the front but you should be good with cars starting at the back. Especially with the tools needed

The process at the back is pretty much the same if you don't try to save the bearing. Just pull at the flange and replace the bearing. The output shaft simply slides out.
The better the tools, the less time and physical force will be required.. though this job is gonna require a fair amount of force in any case

Actually, yes. But I missed the post about putting in the wrong lug bolt.

Betting not many of those who’ve replied have ever used helicoils. Widely used in many critical applications, including wheel hubs:

Thoroughly clean the cutting oil out of the newly tapped holes. Apply red Loctite and let it cure. Light coat of oil on the studs to ensure they don’t contact/lock-up with the Loctite.

Went to a shop, they explained that the whole were completely stripped. Probably just going to purchase new hubs and install them. Will try to do the fronts myself but if the rears are too difficult then I'll have a shop do them. Thanks for all the replies guys!

That's a shame...
And you didn't notice that the bolts went is very heavy in the first palce?

Have a look at FCP Euro maybe you find the manufacturer of the hub and get them cheaper?
