BMW CarPlay - Aftermarket Add-On
Hey guys and gals,
About a few years back I ordered a backup camera from this company. Recently, I saw they had CarPlay systems so I thought I'd give that a try. Installed the new module, kept the same camera I has and added a front camera. This thing works GREAT! I have the NBT system in my 2014 333i and so far I haven't had any issues with it at all. https://www.emeraldintegrations.com/...ra-system.html It was basically the main t-harness, lcd in/out and the av for cameras. After I hooked it all up, I plugged in my phone, triggered carplay with my iDrive and BAM. They made this new module so that when shifting from reverse to park or drive, my front camera turns on for 15 seconds then times out. Love this bad boy. My wife has an iPhone and I'm an Android (Mars vs Venus) and it works with both. I installed the microphone and can activate OK Google, say and address and have it show up. Also, apparently there's a screen mirroring which I haven't played with yet but I see the option shown to mirror my phone onto my NBT screen. Thought I'd share this for anyone that got a base model without nav or camera. This module can add CarPlay, rear camera, front camera and there's also another 3rd video input for whatever else. Let me know if anyone has questions on this install. I did it myself. |

Of course I tried it on the Android 8.1 px6 unit, but it doesn't work. It does not work on the snapdragon Android 9 unit as well. An attempt to upgrade by modified OTA has always ended on recovery screen.

in that case it is better to use EdXposedInstaller_v2.2.5-release.apk instead of XposedInstaller_by_dvdandroid_19_10_18.apk link is here: https://github.com/solohsu/XposedInstaller/releases |

Could use some help with troubleshooting. Tried to install CIC Snapdragon unit on my CIC e82 (1-series) including moving the green/black optical cables to the new harness. When attempted the first power on, it looked like no power was going to the unit, no sound from speakers (no door chimes either). It doesn't even display the "No Input".
To check for a bad harness or unit, I disconnected the new harness, re-installed the original screen with the original harness and moved the optical cables back to the original harness. Still no loading screen, blindly changing sources on the controller gets no response, and no door chimes either. No SOS warning logo on the speedo info display either. However I think power is going to the head unit as the ribbon cable to the front button facia does pass energy to light them up - the iDrive controller lights up also. It doesn't work beyond that. I've tried the following all with the original components in place with no luck: -CIC soft reset (hold power button for 25 seconds) while ignition was on. -Disconnected negative battery terminal and left for an hour. -Checked fuse in the back of the CIC unit (it looks intact). I'm going to check the following today as well: -MOST lights at the back telephone module -fuses behind the glovebox I'm looking for any other hints for what else to check - as far as I know a broken MOST loop only affects audio output but the screen should still boot and should also trigger an SOS warning error on the driver side dash. Fuses behind the glovebox should also result in power not being delivered to the button facia of the headunit. Might have to build up the courage to call up a service center :\ Last edited by rpc180; 10-22-2019 at 08:24 AM.. |

Well in that case there is no room for 10.25" screen in my current design. I'm also concern about this bottom bezel as shown on E90 unit - these are all the same I presume.
Bringing screen to the front only adds room to sides, not top/bottom. Now I need to order up 8.8" unit see how this will fit in. |

Work in progress
It's already working on my car. I'm using the steering wheel roller (don't know the exact name in english...) to increase / decrease the dimming. It can also switch day/night mode by clicking the roller. It's not ready for a release yet. I'll share it when I will be enough happy with it. And it's software only, no additional hardware required. |

I'm planning to make an Excel file with the intents values I've found but I'm missing free time... For the scroll wheel : Code:
Action = com.choiceway.eventcenter.EventUtils.ZXW_CAN_KEY_EVT Extras = com.choiceway.eventcenter.EventUtils.ZXW_CAN_KEY_EVT_EXTRA Code:
Scroll Up = 3 Scroll down = 2 Click = 6 Code:
Voice button = 55 Mode button = 16 Option button = 20 Back button = 85 Menu button = 9 RaceX58 |
