Belt squeek when shifting

A while back I had read some others discussing the squeak heard when aggressively shifting with a 340 6MT. I believe the consensus was a tension belt, but BMWNA had no solution and someone was even told this was "normal"...which is bullshit. I don't want my otherwise amazing sounding car with MPPSK chirping when I'm trying to pull hard.

Anyway, it's been about 5 months since I followed up on this and can't find anything. Anyone happen to know if this was resolved? I have a service appt coming up and would love to bring it up.

I have a 340i 6MT and don't have any noise coming from the gearbox. Where does the noise come from?

You can't really hear it if the radio is on or even if the windows are up. With windows down, if accelerating out of first and hard into second (also second into third), you can hear a little chirp. Not exactly sure what the source is.

I have the 8AT and I get the noise also, if it's the same noise. Only happens for a few minutes after cold start on fairly aggressive shifts. First time it happened I thought I chirped the tires but it is clearly not that now that I have heard it many times. Quite embarrassing from a car of this caliber.

YES! Embarrassing is the best way to put it. I'll have to be mindful to see if it goes away after driving for a bit. Haven't paid much attention to it. Even when my windows are down, my radio is usually way up. I was hoping they'd have identified and fixed. Nothing sucks the intimidation out of a roaring engine like a high pitched squeak/chirp.
