XDrive tolerances between front/rear
I have the staggered set up on my 340i
Bridgestone Driveguard run flats 255/40/18 - rear 225/45/18 - front recently got a nasty screw in one of my rears. Patch/plug not working...slow leak I have found 2 rear Bridgestone Driveguard tires (255/40/18) with 9/32 tread depth. question- my fronts (225/45/18) have 5/32 left can I put these 2 rear tires (255/40/18) on with 9/32 tread? (4/32 tread difference between front/rear with staggered setup) when all 4 of these tires were new there was a diameter/circumference difference of 0.2%, well below the 1% tolerance BMW allows for XDrive. So 0.2% PLUS the 4/32 tread difference between front and rear? I feel like it right on that border...what do you think? |

there is enough margin built in to the xfer case to accommodate wear. so it will be fine.
for most accuracy, measure the actual circumferences OR actual diameters, with the wheels are off the car . Last edited by alohasurftoad; 10-25-2023 at 12:07 PM.. |
