A review of Bootmod3 Stage 1 93 oct

I finally did it! Today I flashed my 2017 320ix to stg 1, and now I am going to share my thoughts about the tune.

First off, it was very simple and easy. Took about 5-6 minutes. No issues whatsoever.

Driving around suburban streets I live in I could already tell the engine was different. Way more low end torque in comfort, and the engine feels a little smoother in the way it is delivering the power.

Once I got on onto more open streets I put it into sport and did a few pulls. The car is noticeably faster, significantly faster. It is still a 320 but the engine no longer feels anemic. The car feels lighter, power delivery is better and overall the engine just feels more alive and aggressive. But, like I said, it is still a 320.

The real difference for me was full throttle after 80+. Stock, the car just dies out after 80 and anything past that is a pain. This is not longer the case. It pulls really really nicely past 100+. This for me was the biggest difference.

Is it worth $595? IMO if you are a car enthusiast, absolutely.

Have you done the transmission flash? I have a 328xi and love the stage 1, also running the transmission tune and not nearly as sold on it. Car definitely pulls little bit harder at higher rpms with the tranny tune but I find my car downshifts a little aggressively in comfort mode and leaves me chuggin at 900 rpms.

Known issue with the transmission tune on the N20 platform. PTF says flash was designed for 6-cyl and shift points cause this on the 4-cyl. Either use sport shifting or move to sport/sport+ mode. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1774745

God no do not lol, tried it on my n20 it shook at idle like a v8 with a race cam it was insane and sounded like it was hurting itself not worth the sound difference is almost not noticeable just change your cold start rpm if you want a louder cold start in the bm3 app

I am not going to flash the tranny. The extra .001 seconds not worth the downsides from what ive heard.

If they make a dedicated 4cyl flash then ill try it out.

There is just no point in my opinion. Once I do downpipe/AWE then exhaust will be nicer

And honestly the n20 stock cold start aint half bad anyway.

The 320I definitely needs a performance boost to make it fun to drive. Without any tweaks it's as you said...anemic.

I installed a JB+ and even that mild tune made a world of difference.
