I tried on my F20, everything codes ok except WLAN_WIFI_DIRECT which stops with an error. I suppose my car doesn't have the correct hardware (which is as below)
Code:
hmi.type: BMW ID6L hmi.version: EntryEvo_ID5_1903_Release ID5_1903-490-1837K Build 47 - Rev:203015 2018-11-14 08:39:42 |

I've just successfully coded mine with Bimmercode. Mine definitely doesn't have WiFi preparation so, as others have said, it seems as though there's a built in antenna on some head units. Mines NBTEvo_L with ID6.

There is no built in antenna, carplay and screen mirroring will work without the antenna plugged in but just not as well and at a limited range.

NBT_EVO2: ENT_MIRACAST -> aktiv ENT_MC_WLAN_STREAM_DMP -> aktiv ENT_MIRACAST_DISPLAY_SETTINGS -> aktiv WLAN_WIFI_DIRECT -> aktiv WLAN_STATUS -> aktiv I assume they will be also in Expert Mode for coding, not the standard? Could you please advise how did you manage to code the Screen Mirroring option enabled via BimmerCode? Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance! |

I have screen mirroring and in my opinion its pointless....it mirrors the phone to the screen in the same aspect ratio, so you cant see a lot and it takes up only 3/4 of the screen but sits in the middle its like you have stiuck ya phone up against the screen...im really not finding any use for it unless it can be made full screen which ive looked into and it seems it cant. I wouldnt rush to do it honestly!

I tend to agree. Neither Netflix or Prime work properly (plays sound but not picture due to protection I'm assuming). YouTube works well though, as does Google Maps, but you're locked into listening to whatever is playing via WiFi, which weirdly isn't as stable as Bluetooth. I bought a WiFi antenna in the end, which has extended the range within the car significantly (obvs)
