The *MIRACAST* or *MC* settings are in section 3000
WLAN* is in 3003 not 3000!

I tried on my F20, everything codes ok except WLAN_WIFI_DIRECT which stops with an error. I suppose my car doesn't have the correct hardware (which is as below)
Code:
hmi.type: BMW ID6L
hmi.version: EntryEvo_ID5_1903_Release ID5_1903-490-1837K Build 47 - Rev:203015 2018-11-14 08:39:42
on the Media Menu now I have "screen mirroring" as option but when I click "add new device" it does not do anything.

no but I have extended bluetooth ... below the "S6* " options my car have
Code:
S698A	Area-Code 2 for DVD
S6ACA	Intelligent emergency call
S6AEA	TELESERVICES
S6AKA	Connected Drive Services
S6APA	Remote Services
S6NHA	Hands-free system with USB interface
the latest one is basically the "Extended Bluetooth" that many users activate through\via coding

Miracast is by definition wireless though, you cannot have it without WiFi prep. I am not sure if there is an option for wired screen mirroring.

I've just successfully coded mine with Bimmercode. Mine definitely doesn't have WiFi preparation so, as others have said, it seems as though there's a built in antenna on some head units. Mines NBTEvo_L with ID6.

There is no built in antenna, carplay and screen mirroring will work without the antenna plugged in but just not as well and at a limited range.

By definition there *must* be an internal antenna, otherwise it wouldn't work!

There is a socket on the back of the headunit, it is a very "short" antenna of sorts, if you want to be pedantic.

Hi, I'm looking to enable Screen Mirroring via BimmerCode on a 2017 F36 (4-series GC) . I have the wide (larger screen) and ID5 N-version software. I have added a WiFi antenna just in case although it sounds like it isn't necessary in most cases. I spent a few days reading through the forums, but couldn't find exact guidance on what and where would I need to code in order to have Screen Mirroring option enabled on my NBT EVO HU. I found the below that need enabling, but it doesn't mention in which unit, e.g. Front Electronic Module or Head Unit or wherever else to find them:

NBT_EVO2:
ENT_MIRACAST -> aktiv
ENT_MC_WLAN_STREAM_DMP -> aktiv
ENT_MIRACAST_DISPLAY_SETTINGS -> aktiv
WLAN_WIFI_DIRECT -> aktiv
WLAN_STATUS -> aktiv

I assume they will be also in Expert Mode for coding, not the standard?

Could you please advise how did you manage to code the Screen Mirroring option enabled via BimmerCode? Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have screen mirroring and in my opinion its pointless....it mirrors the phone to the screen in the same aspect ratio, so you cant see a lot and it takes up only 3/4 of the screen but sits in the middle its like you have stiuck ya phone up against the screen...im really not finding any use for it unless it can be made full screen which ive looked into and it seems it cant. I wouldnt rush to do it honestly!

Hi and thanks for your input. So, you are saying that with Screen Mirroring enabled via coding isn't much different (or in fact it is the same) as if one uses the AAIdrive app for Android which utilises the connection and protocols MyBMW app runs to connect to the car? This is really disappointing if true as I was hoping to get Screen Mirroring in a larger size than my phone (6.4" screen). Oh well...
Did you enable this with the commands I have listed above? What software did you use to achieve this?

Thank you.

Miracst by its nature will emulate the aspect ratio of the device its casting from, so you get a mirror of the device like for like on the end output. I heard there was a way of changing the aspect of you phone screen before you cast it. I gave a few apps a go to do this but gave up in the end as it was just poor no matter what i tried. I had my NBT EVO updated to allow for Apple Carplay full screen mode and a by product of that was that i got mirroring enabled so i have the screen mirroring option availble in the Idrive and the car WIFI enabled. It just doesnt make it worthwhile if it cant use the full screen of the car. I hope ive missed something and there is a better way but currently its pointless in my view!

I tend to agree. Neither Netflix or Prime work properly (plays sound but not picture due to protection I'm assuming). YouTube works well though, as does Google Maps, but you're locked into listening to whatever is playing via WiFi, which weirdly isn't as stable as Bluetooth. I bought a WiFi antenna in the end, which has extended the range within the car significantly (obvs)
