Stage 2 on 33k Mile Plugs

I just poured my soul (and blood and sanity) into getting my Akrapovič DP in, and ran out of daylight before I could swap out my spark plugs. I'm dying to flash BM3 stage 2, but I likely won't have a chance to change them before I take a little road trip next weekend. What say you internet, what's the worst that could happen? Also, anyone else have an Akra pipe? I'm not mistaken in the fact that there's no place to put a gasket, am I?

Oh, also, I broke the damn clip on the upstream O2 sensor harness. Anyone know if/where I might be able to find just the harness? I'd really rather not buy a whole new O2 sensor, but I will, dammit.

Just put the sensor in and then duck tape it. I believe the car will throw a drivetrain failure in the dashboard on the car letting you know if it didn’t work or came lose. You can poke around on realoemparts.com to find the harness if it has a separate part number. If it doesn’t, your next step is eBay, and then buying the entire sensor.

Regardless though, BMS and MHD both offer the ability to suppress the CEL caused by the O2 sensor, although I’m not sure what it throws when the O2 sensor isn’t plugged in.

You don't need to replace spark plugs to tune your car. Just change them at the normal maintenance interval.

The clip for the harness is on the engine harness side right? Not the sensor side. Most people just zip tie it together because I have yet to find a repair kit for the plugs. Or you might find one on ebay that was removed from a wrecked car.

Clip is on the sensor side. Because of the way its clipped along the wire, it doesn't have a whole lot of room to bounce around. I'll probably just let it do what it do until it breaks and then replace the damn thing--I just have to get over the old new-to-me OCD hump.

Regarding the plugs . . . I made time, lol. The ones I pulled were NKG, so I'm wondering if they weren't replaced when the previous "owner's" lease expired. It's a 2018--which I had understood generally have Champions from the factory.

It just depends. BMW offered both. I've seen people order 6 OEM plugs and 4 are champion and 2 are NGK or vice versa.

That would absolutely infuriate me. Ha.

Just pulled my original plugs from my '17 and they were all OEM NGK gapped to .028 FWIW. If I pulled them out and they didn't match my OCD would never let me get over it.

Fortunately it seems like OEM plugs from the factory are typically the same. But if you got them replaced at the dealer or buy replacement plugs from the dealer, there's a chance that you'd get a mixed set. I know of one person that had NGKs and had a misfire issue so the dealer replaced his plugs, and when he checked he found one was a champion plug.
