Exclamation MG Flasher users please chime in...

Hello guys

I want to reprogram my BMW ECU but really cannot invest in a $575 BM3

I'm loooking at MG Flasher with fantastic hp and tq gains for $348 stage 1

But before I pull the trigger I'd like to know about actual users and their opinion

Thanks

Subscribed since I’m debating between MG and BM3 as well.

Charge pipe needed?

Smooth delivery?

Burbles?

MPG change?

Compatible with xDelete?

1. No. Why you would need it?
2. Yes everything is fine.
3. Yes configurable before flash. Also changeable on the fly.
4. Didn’t notice any big difference while regular driving.
5. Yes.

Was beta testing for 3 month - no issues at all. Overall experience is great. Service, support, performance of the car - everything is great!

Well. after waiting for my cables to arrive, I finally pulled the trigger and got my MG flasher stage 1.

My experience so far:

1. Excellent customer service
They have been very helpful from the buying process to flashing and answering all questions regarding their product.
2. Ease of use. Very easy to flash and use the app

and most important: DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The car feels great, very powerful, so far I love it.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Is is better than the JB+ you tried awhile ago?

Thanks

Awesome! Now go toss it on a dyno! Lol

Turboh, I used the JB+ this summer and fall, it wasn’t enough. I went with BM3 instead of MG. I’m very happy with it. Pretty sure it’s similar to the MG.

Skip the JB+, go straight for MG or BM3.

Hi Chowser,

What made you choose the BM3 as opposed to the MG?

I have use the JB+ and JB4 on my now defunct 340i [crashed]. I like it very much and power was awesome. I was thinking of the MHD flash but is not available for my new 330iX. BM3 is more costly and the instructions read like a computer manual. MG instructions are cleaner and more basic. I am sure performance wise they are pretty much the same.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Alex

My first thing with MG flasher was I don't have an android phone anymore. And if I get another car, I can sell my BM3 license to someone. Not sure you can do that with MG.

It takes less than five minutes to flash using BM3. that includes turning on my computer. It's not that complicated. I keep a mini laptop in my car anyway to burn videos off my dashcam for the popo if needed and I don't really need to do logs or on the fly burble changes. I could've bought an android phone I guess but I'm invested in Apple because work makes me. I think performance wise, they are pretty much the same. I don't plan on going to stage 2 so when I give my car to my daughter when I get another car, I will flash it back to stock and sell it so in the end, it ends up cheaper than mg.

that's just my reasoning for picking bm3.

MG Flasher will do a version for iOS too and looks like MG Flasher a little bit faster than BM3. 290hp with 420Nm for st.1. Yeah, you can not sell the licence to someone, but it twice cheaper. Just buy another one in future =) Also it is really handy to flash a car directly from a phone, without PC, internet, web-site, etc. And the process is much easier.

I was waiting for the iOS version but bm3 had a black friday sale so it cost me $505. I will probably sell it for $300 when I change cars which will probably not be BMW since they're phasing out hard top convertibles. probably going to get the new convertible c8

I think MG Flasher is around $350? I thought you had to buy the software than a map?
What's the obd2 module run? you gotta add in all the little stuff unless you already have it for something else. I already had the obd2 to ethernet cable so it wasn't an additional cost.

Maybe it's cheaper where you are?

A few days ago you could buy mg flasher license for $280 - flasher with one of stages (1st or 2nd). Maybe this black Friday offer still available, idk. But you will get more power and much handy way to flash your car.

Yeah you can use an enet cable for flashing without special modules.

P. S. I bought my enet cable for $10 from ebay.

It is a completely different animal, MGF has a lot more torque and power. It is smoother while cruising.
Turbo lag from stand still is greater than stock but the flasher recommends also a tranny tuning, I solved that by using the transmission in SPORT and turbo lag is quite low.

I'm very very happy with the MGF and will be selling my JB+ soon

I think BM3 and MGF are similar but I chose MGF because it has more hp/tq and it is cheaper.
also flashing with the enet cable is a breeze, needing 4 minutes for initial flashing and 1 minute to reflash maps

you need an android phone with ethernet capabilites though. (I borrowed one from my assistant because I'm an Apple guy)

I bought it with the black friday sale, 279 bucks; the best investment I've made for a car.

After 1 month and some days, everything is good and dandy, very happy so far.

Me too! So did you get any measurements (0-100, 100-200km/h) with Dragy/Racelogic/etc?

PuroMexicano Does your car burble now that you have the OTS MGF? If so, is your exhaust stock?

One thing I don't understand with MGF is on the MG Flasher website it states that the stage 1 power and torque output for both B48 320i and 330i are more or less the same (290hp and 420NM respectively).
I understand that they both use the same B48 engine but aren't the pistons and CR ratios different? ....like the pistons and CR allows 330i to handle more power?

No, it works well just out from box. And its cheap and very very accurate:
https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showp...&postcount=304
https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showp...&postcount=270
https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showp...&postcount=234
https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showp...&postcount=212
https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showp...&postcount=224

But there is a another cheap solution - Speed Logic app (~$8) for Android with external GPS adapter(~$10). Results very very close if we are talking about 100-200km/h. 0-100 is accurate too, but you have to set a start detection carefuly.
