the 335 tone is different? didn't know that. I went with the MPE for the better sound.

I'm learning the enthusiast scene with BMW quite different than with prior cars (VW and MINI). Different good and different bad. I think the branding does factor more into the way the car is perceived and shown to others.

If I haven't mentioned, I give props for the looks if that's your intention. it does look like the 335i rear end and going OEM to do it (because you can) makes it a worthy mod. Good work!!!! My response was to the above photo "Help me I'm poor". I love the OEM+ body themes and aftermarket rarely can improve the OEM look. At least BMW does have MPerformance add ons.

Definitely better than slapping on M stickers

Agree completely, for me its not about the perception of it being a 335 vs 328i. I did the same thing to our Audi A4. I have never liked pipes on one side. My personal preference only. Its more of a balance thing..I like the symmetry of it.

The Help me I am Poor, while it didnt come from me, I am sure was humor and had nothing to do with the car or perception. Some people read a little too much into comments. The forum is about enjoying people's experiences and sharing as we all have something in common, our cars.

I was really leaning towards this mod but have since decided against it. I do love the 435i two pipe look but have also seen huge improvement with any other than stock exhaust on the twin pipe standard 428i configuration. The twin pipes are so tiny and wimpy looking.

I seem to look at this different every few days so who knows if I'll go back to leaning towards the 2 pipe set up but I doubt it. I don't don't feel an urging need to completely change the look, just improve upon it.

Not sure I understand your comment. So do you like the twin pipes look or not?

Nice! Did you notice any drone in comfort mode between 1500-2000 rpm? I have this small problem but its not big deal.

Will an M235 muffler fit on a 4 series? I am doing this conversion, but all I am finding are M235 mufflers.

I think the 335 MPE sounds really good on the n20, shitty that the pipes are different diameter. Might pick a used one up to try if it comes available

I just completed transplanting a 335 muffler with black chrome tips bought for $100 from a forum member to my 328. I purchased the right muffler bracket from the dealer for $60 and a dual exhaust 335 M Sport diffuser from an Bay seller for $42. I was going to do the install myself but was concerned about the differing departure angle of the pipe from muffler and the different pipe diameter so chose to have it installed and welded for $160 by the same high end shop that installed the Akropovic in the donor vehicle. The entire job took just over an hour.

I am really happy with the results both appearance wise and sound wise. Both are big improvements on the original 328 installation.

The question now is do I keep the 328 label and cause a little confusion or debadge and run the risk of being labeled deceptive. I suppose a true deceiver would relabel as a 335, something I wouldn't consider.

Nice work Chazmik. .

deabdge, don't debadge. If you are the type of person who notices a dual exhaust on a 328 to be different, your smart enough to realize he/she got a aftermarket mod. Don't think you should be confusing anyone

I have a 2012 328i and also want to do this conversion for the look and most importantly the sound.

1. Is there a rear diffuser for the non msport bumper with dual cutouts??

2. Any problem with warranty if i do this conversion??

Im not sure about the bumper, but they just used the original diffuser and cut out the other side. you wouldn't be able to tell if I didn't tell anyone.

If you are adding the 335i exhaust to a 328i do you need any additional hangers? Right now I have diffuser, clamp and 335i axle back. Want to be sure I have everything in time for install. Thanks.

You've got what you need. Good luck and post pics.

Been wanting to do this setup for a while but have to cut my bumper since I don't have the M-sport bumper, but that's the least of my worries.

For the clamp, is it the same one that comes with the MPE?

Since the diameter piping is different between the 328 and 335, will it affect installation? How big is the difference?

You need to get the 75mm clamp. Then the muffler shop needs to make an adapter piece to mate the larger diameter of the muffler with the cars smaller diameter pipe.
