Finally settled on X3 M40i

Been doing my own head in for about 2 years on what car to get and after really falling in love with a C63 the other day, I'm gonna be more family sensible and settle for an x3

I'd love the M40i, seen a few on here have bought same - can anyone share availability of any good deals around?

TRL no build slots until end September earliest - have emailed him

Many thanks in advance ....

Great choice! I wouldn’t call it settling though, it’s faster than an M3 from just a couple of generations ago, and a lot more tuneable!!

How come Tony’s got no build slots until September? Have you asked if there’s any stock cars available?

Nice choice, it's such a refined cabin and epic drivetrain.

TRL used his annual stock in Q1 I think!

We got one a few weeks ago. Went for stock as we needed a car quickly.

Great car. Not driven it much yet as it's the other half's but I'm very impressed so far.

My plan is

Technology, MS+, sunroof, towbar, adaptive cruise

Possibly comfort pack too if I can get good enough deal.

Carbon black, undecided on interior

Good plan. I would recommend adaptive suspension, folding wing mirrors and tinted glass. I think they are still optional extras.

I also have the space saver wheel. It does make you lose a small bit of boot space - but will give me extra protection when I ditch the run flats.

Tinted glass and adaptive comes with MS+, the fact BMW put electric folding mirrors as an option on a £50k plus car in 2019 is laughable, yes I will got for that either as option or comfort pack if I stretch that far.

What do you have in terms of driving assist?

What is your MPG now, I saw a thread on that a while back ?

I do 30k a year but can't bring myself yet to get the diesel - I've driven the diesel on Tuesday and an 'I' coming this Saturday

Solid choice and in the best colour... Here's mine: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1479292

I went for black leather with blue stitching. Happy with my choice, you get blue stitching across the instrument panel as well.

Park Assist Plus, i.e. the 360 cameras - is the best option I went for. Very handy, I use it all the time.

I didn't go for any of the driving assistance options as had them before on previous cars and never really used them. You can get Speed Limit Info coded in for about £270 and any of the other parts of the Driving Assitance package as that's all software-related apart from steering wheel vibration.

Acoustic glazing at £120 is a relatively cheap option.

MPG-wise, I'm getting around 30mpg after 6,000 miles. That includes lots of short journeys.

Mr TP is currently getting 25-27mpg but the car only has 1200 miles on it, and his commute includes 5 miles of traffic going into Leicester everyday.

The other week we drive down to London and got 30mpg on the motorway.

Similar here. I average about 28 - but a lot of that is town / traffic. When doing longer run on motorway etc I am getting low 30s.

google suggests 65 litres, which is 14 gallons in old money. at 30mpg that is about 400 miles on a tank...

which is about what I do in my SQ5, which has similar sized tank. Its OK as normally I rarely do more than about 350miles in a weekend but when I do more it does hack me off a bit...hate having to fill up mid journey!

Yep 65 litres, 68 litres on M40d though, when I fill up with vpower it's £95!

So the diesel get a larger tank? You would think it was the other way round?

Probably to do with Co2 emissions limits, I see certain configurations of the M40i emit 198 g/km, so maybe the smaller tank was just enough to get it under 200!

A lot of people are having issues with squeaking sunroofs. I didn't bother with the tech pack, I just got HUD out of it. I wouldn't use the rest. But that's personal. I've carbon black in oyster and it is an amazing combo. The merino is lovely too. Extra bit of class.

It's a range beast!

If you cost it in ECO 750 is possible.

X5 is the first car where I've reached the £99 limit at some of the self-serve petrol stations and left without a full tank
