Dumb question: Can I replace wheels with broken axle?

So, I need to have my car flat bedded (can't drive long distances due to front axle being busted).

I was wondering though if I can still replace the wheels I have on my car (that has a busted axle) before I have it flat bedded.

I only ask because I'd like the car to have the new wheels aligned at the shop shop after it has its axles replaced.

why not just bring the wheels to the shop and tell them to put the new ones on after they fix the axle and before the alignment?
