F30 headuni retrofit

Hi people

I have the most standard headunit in my bmw with no nav. It’s basically just a CD player (with DAB radio). Anyway I wanted to fit a new headunit but not sure it it requires coding. The only reason I want to do this is because I’d like to instal the 6WB cluster but I can’t do so as my headunit doesn’t have the fiber optic connection.

So basically do I need to code it?
Can I live with it without coding it?

Attached photos include examples of what I have and what I would like to fit in.

Thanks

The headunit has to be coded and if you somewhen retrofit the 6WB it also has to be coded.
Maybe some things will work without coding but some things will not.
