Red Gauge Cluster Needles?

I've been toying with the idea of trying to make the needles in my gauge cluster red. I've seen a few things online, from special paints to red Sharpie, and I've seen a few sites that sell replacement needles for past gen. 3-series, but I haven't seen much for the F3x platform.

Any thoughts/ideas? Is it doable? Advisable? I found a thread about opening up the instrument cluster to clean/dust the inside, so I'm guessing access won't be too difficult.

Can you link the dusting thread... I could use that.

I have no idea if this would work on the f3x, but this game up on my YouTube feed the other day, I thought it was kinda cool.

It's been in my feed as well! I agree it's an interesting change, particularly on the E9x with the center LCD display. Personally, I'm a fan of the classic BMW orange backlighting so I wouldn't be doing this particular mod. Also, changing the backlighting for just the needles (if that's possible) would have no effect during the day and I would want the needles to be red all the time.
