Hi everyone,

Theres a beeping sound that's quite intermittent coming from the engine bay when my car is running (see the video)

Do you guys have any idea what this could be and if it's a normal sound? I've only just noticed this as it is quite faint and hardly noticeable from the cabin.

I've been searching online to see if anyone else has had a similar issue but I can't seem to find any. The model is a 2016, 420i, Coupe

I have the same problem. F30 320i 2016.
I replaced the vanos short valve and the vanos adjusting element at the bmw dealer under warranty but the problem did not disappear. I have no idea what that could be.

I found this video on youtube with someone who has the same problem. According to him "BMW found an oil seal missing in the Vanos Unit. Under warranty. I no longer have the car but this was the fault"

I haven't got around to fixing mine yet because of the Coronavirus lockdown but apparently that fixed the problem. Link to the video is below.

perhaps its the turbo? my car made weird sounds when the wastegate failed...

I took it to a local BMW garage but mechanics couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from.

It's been nearly a year since then and the noise is still there intermittently but it hasn't really caused any problems
