Reflashing Instrument Cluster and Engine Computer.
Hey all,
Has anyone ever had to do a re-flash from the BMW dealership? I have a 1B9702 fault code: Engine switch-off time, timer, instrument panel timer DME, comparison: value of instrument panel timer too low while engine is running. I consulted an online BMW mechanic and he said the reprogramming has to be done at my local dealership as it needs ISTA software. I also contacted the (non BMW) dealer where I got the car from and the guy there suggested removing the battery for 45mins and also checking for a service bulletin for this issue. Thoughts? This is a 2015 435ix. |

Hi.
If you feel you have some technical knowledge and knowhow and you are going to make use of it more than once then absolutely. It isn't expensive at all to get and the latest programming files are free also. Actually the most complicated part is installing the program! If you dont have technical k knowledge and dont really plan on using it regularly I would advise saving the stress and paying someone to do it for you. |

Sorry, I should mention you will need the icom hardware also that isn't worth purchasing for a one time use. We have it as we like to be well tooled, but we still dont have the MOST adapter that you need for infotainment stuff

I do plan on performance mods such as BootMod3 or MHD. As far as technical knowledge, none for BMW. I guess I'll be learning as time goes on. |
