My location/elevation is good (Huntington Beach) but the gas we have here is crap unless we run aftermarket fuel pumps and go E85.
I'm in HB too! If you ever have a need keep in mind we have two e85 stations on beach blvd - so it's relatively convenient. I run an E30 blend with my MP tune and 340.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but is it normal to see very lean AFR's after letting off WOT. I'm seeing around 19 on the AFR.

Thanks

Yes, AFR will go all over the place when you're not applying pressure to the accelerator.

Any reason why I would be seeing boost 7 PSI over target? I'm Stage 1 93.
I don't know if this is a common thing to be seeing.

Heres the whole log. Looks like the throttle angle is controlling the boost pressure which doesn't make much sense to me.

Target at that point say 14 PSI. I'm reading 21. That is until the throttle plate closes. Should the boost not be controlled by the waste gate?

You are looking at pre-throttle boost when you see the spike. MAP is the boost the engine is actually experiencing. You can see that you get a throttle closure at about 3330 rpm. This occurs because you are overshooting boost target (at the MAP). The DME will use throttle closures to protect the engine when needed; it is one of many protective measures. WGGC is the primary means to control boost and you can see that it does indeed respond to the overboost, but throttle closure is a much faster response to get things in check. The throttle then opens back up once WG gets boost under control. Boost remains relatively close to target for the rest of the pull.

Overall that is "normal" behavior, but if you are overshooting boost every single time you do a pull and consistently getting throttle closures that might be cause for concern. Do a few more 4th gear logs (preferable only the pull in the log so we don't have to trim it) and confirm.

Okay thanks for the explanation. I was just worried I would harm the car, but also not very experienced on the platform at the moment.

I'll try and get a cleaner log tonight in just 4th gear. I was also going to flash back to stock and try to run back to back logs.

Thanks

Okay I managed to get some good logs. These seem to look way better. I noticed a couple knocks detected through a couple of the runs, is this enough for concern? I can always tune for 91 and run 93.

OR am I completely over analyzing this data and should just drive the damn thing

Thanks

Took a quick look at 4th gear 02 log. Boost control and throttle control seems on point. Two knocks in the same pull is a little concerning IMO, especially if it occurs frequently across multiple pulls. Not sure how the 93 quality is in your area but lots of people in the pacific NW run 91 tune with their 93 gas. It's hard to tell how much timing is being pulled (since BM3 does not appear to show timing correction in logs like MHD does), but timing doesnt look great on some of the cylinders. If it were me i would try the 91 octane tune and do a few logs to see if there is any knock and how timing looks.

Is your car completely stock besides the tune? IAT climbs quite a bit during the pull so i am guessing stock IC.

Yeah I figured knocks during WOT are not good. Not looking to blow the car up.. So I just quick flashed the 91 tune and I'll try to get some logs going to work tomorrow. I'm in the Northeast so gas quality should be pretty good for 93, but I've been getting gas at BJ's and Wawa.

Car is stock with the exception of a charge pipe. Also have a catted DP on order and plan on doing the IC shortly after to go Stage 2.

Why is the target boost in 6th gear on 91ACN so low (half of 5th gear)? It feels like hitting a wall when shifting from 5th to 6th. I understand that 3rd and 6th are the weakest in the ZF 8spd trans but there isn’t a reduction on 3rd gear boost.

Short pull in 6th on 91 Stage 1 map. Still got a knock. Also looks like its pulling timing in cylinder 4 and 5. Flashing back to stock and going to check for knock on those logs. I doubt the gas in the tank is that bad.

Burble Tune Not showing "Sport +"

I recently purchased BM3 and when I was looking at the custom burble tune option for my car it doesn't have Sport + it only has Sport, ive seen videos and posts of others having custom for sport +. Any advice on what I should do?

I believe you have to get it coded if it.

So I just flashed the newest update to my car (335i EWG). I took a log of a 3rd gear pull, but noticed my boost drops to under 15psi at about 4500rpm and never comes back up. Is this normal for the stock turbo?

My car is stock other than a BMS intake and a FTP inlet pipe.
