NOx Failure?
Just got 271 C00/Intermittent - Rail Pressure Regulating Valve. adaptation too high.
From what I am reading it looks like potentially NOx sensor. Anyone have different insight? I have also read that many people got letters extending their warranty for NOx sensors to 10/120 but when I check http://bmw-rp.com/production/bmw/rei...nsf/submit.xsp its only showing the fuel pump as an option for my car. Do I have any shot at getting this covered on mine? Thanks in advance! |

That's not a nox sensor issue..
The rail pressure regulator valve is critical to keeping rail pressure correct. It means that the rail pressure has deviated too much from set values. This needs to be investigated thoroughly. Is the car stock? When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

You need to find out which way the deviation was. Usually that data is collected with the error code and is very important.
Deviation too high, then that means that the return lines are not keeping up. Deviation too low, then there's a lot of things it could be.

Car is completely stock 2014 328d. Fuel filter changed 5k ago. I have a foxwell scanner. I will see if it has the ability to view stored data so I can see how it deviated. |

My best guess (pending additional info), the metering unit in the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced.
Actually, I would pull the metering unit and check for metal shavings too. That would be a worst case scenario. Sometimes they simply go bad.

My research shows the same. Looks like the code calls for pulling the unit. Checking the screen for metal and then proceed from there. I will keep you updated!

Looking back at this thread. Feel like I should put resolution for those who search in the future.
Car ended up having an imploded HPFP as Enabled called I found metal shavings. Covered under warranty at 51k miles... |

I have 271c00 w/ pressure too high. Is this indicating an issue with the return lines not keeping up? If so, what needs to be done, replace the return lines?
