20's or 19's on Dinan Springs?

I'm a little bit of a newbie when it comes to wheel/tire fitment, but I have a 335i RWD on Dinan Springs that I'd like to give an OEM Plus look and my next stop is wheels.

I'd like to go 9.5" rear, 8.5" front (whatever offsets make it flush, or close) and have minimal wheel gap without rubbing. I know it's never going to look slammed on Dinan Springs, that's not what I want, but I'd like it to look as aggressive as possible while staying clean/oem plus-like. I'd say currently there's a little more front wheel gap than I'd like from some angles...hoping the springs settle a tiny bit more and that a wider/better offset wheel will also help visually close that gap.

So far just Dinan springs (on for ~1.5 weeks) on OEM 19's, M Sport front bumper:

SO...do I need to go up to a 20" wheel to close up a little bit of the wheel gap on the Dinans and look a little more aggressive? Or should I just get a wider/more aggressive 19" aftermarket wheel (...reuse my 255/35 225/40 Continentals) and call it a day?

I'm Torn! For the record some of my favorite looking cars are on H&R Sports, so by no means am I trying to look slammed. In most cases I prefer 19" wheels over 20", there are exceptions, and I know this is mostly personal preference, but hoping to hear opinions and thoughts from those of you more experienced than I.

i'd run 19x8.5 +32ish with 235/40/19 front, 19x9.5 +42ish with 265/35/19 rear. slightly taller tires and being more flush with lower offset will close the gap while providing better ride and impact protection.

This is half what I wanted to hear ... just wish I didn't have to get rid of these brand new Conti RFT's that came with the car yet.

Have you ever thought about using wheel spacers with your setup? I have a 340 RWD, and I have Dinan springs. I am running it with OEM 19" staggered setup. I am running 12" BMS spacers in the front and rear.

Yeah that was my original plan actually...but I know I want to go with a more aggressive wheel eventually with a lip or concave and was thinking that $100+ on spacers could be saved for the wheels. Maybe I'll just do spacers though and this can be my winter setup while I save up for wheels & tires for spring time.

Agreed, 265 for rear.

I feel like 12" spacers are a little overkill

If you have to deal with winter potholes you don't want 20s, unless you have a set of winters mounted on 18s or 19s.

It looks like your wheels are OEM 19" 401 Style staggered wheels. I drove in DC area with the same wheels and Pirelli Sottozero winter performance tires. No problems - but I did experience a few instances where rough surface area + 20" wheels and tires would lead to a compromised sidewall.

For DC/NoVA area, 19" wheels during the summer are likely to be the best compromise between visual cues and comfort. During the winter, 18" wheels are more practical.

They worked well for me IMO, as my summer tires are OEM stock 19" 225/40 Front, and 255/35 rears. Plus 12mm is minimum you can do for the rears with BMS spacers.

Pretty sure he was joking because you said 12” which literally is 12 inches, not millimeters...at least in the US.

Really appreciating all the feedback...I expected more people to recommend 20s. I’m leaning towards spacers for now and keeping these as my “winter wheels” while I save up for a nice set of 19s in the spring. I may just skip spacers though and put that $$$ towards the wheels

VP_56 did you get your name from US Navy Patrol Squadron 56? I like you stance by the way, and I may just have to get some of those 12inch spacers

LRW70 I can only ever wish to have a honor like that, because I have so much respect and love for our military brothers and sisters, but no the username is just my initials and my high school football number. Glad you like the stance.
