F32 Wheel & Tire Fitment
Hey whats going on guys? I read a bunch of threads but can't seem to settle on what makes sense for my specific build. I wanted to ask a question I've been going back and forth on. These are my details:
Current: No rubbing or issues Car: 2015 BMW 435xi (Lowered on KW street comfort adjustable coilovers) Wheels: Variant Xenon 19x8.5+28 19x10+42 Tires: Continental Extreme Contakt 225/40R19 255/35R19 Below is what i would like to order but not sure if i will have the right clearance to make it work. I don't mind raising the car a bit to make everything fit but want to keep the stance beefy with no wheel gap New: Wheels: Variant Radon 19x8.5+28 19x10+40 Tires: 235/40R19 265/35R19 Will it be possible for this fitment to work at all or will it be a disaster for me to get everything to fit? I've attached some pictures of my car with current set up. |

On the rear, I have the 19x10Et40 with a 265/35 tire. Lowered .75" No issues whatsoever.
On the front I run a 235/40-19 on a 19x9ET32 front wheel with a .75" drop. It rubs under hard compression (when car weight is forward into a bump or deep/low spot in road). I've rolled the fender out and trimmed the fender tab. I noticed the rub is primarily inside the fender (not the edge), which tells me the tire is too tall... as the 235/40-19 is .4" taller than the 225/45-18 (stock size). It did this A LOT with Eibach springs/stock EDC shocks. I chalked it up to the spring rates being a little soft and the EDC shocks not quite matched to the springs. With the ST XA coilovers, the compression rub is A LOT less - as the coils are an easy +25lbs to +50lbs firmer than then the Eibachs and the shocks are more sporty in nature, and it's lowered only .75" vs .8" Personally, I'd maybe go with an offset on the front of like 36 or 38 to bring the wheel in more so the tire move up/down without hitting the inner fender. But ask the wheel people to confirm. I *think* the 3-series guys get away with wider tires and such because the shape of their fenders is taller/shorter. Photo is my 235/40-19et32 and 265/40-19et40 set-up with the Eibach/EDC stock shocks drop of .8". Right click and save the image to your desktop if you want to see it "bigger". ![]() Last edited by exE36M3; 04-18-2023 at 06:38 PM.. |

Thanks for the info bro! Really digging your build and especially the stance! Super beefy which is exactly what I'm looking for.
Since you're running 19x9+32 and mine is 19x8.5+28 do you think that half inch on the width will help keep things "skinnier" within the wheel well even though the tires are the same size? |

Thanks for your compliments.
![]() >>19x8.5+28 do you think that half inch on the width will help keep things "skinnier"<< So let's start with the stock 34mm offset. Guys have run spacers as deep as 12mm for an offset of 22mm. Let's call that the safety zone. Where you are now with an 8.5" rim and 28 offset, you are around 21.625. (Technically it's actually still 28, but I am accounting for the rim width which pushes the overall wheel out further 6.375mm) That is pretty close to the edge of "safety". Since you are using the stock tire size, you are OK as the difference is less than 1mm. If you compare my width and offset, I am at 19.75. The difference is 1.875mm. So we are both pretty close. ---- So let's move onto the tire. The stock 225/45-18 tire is 26" tall (diameter) Your 225/40-19 is 26.1" tall My 235/40-19 is 26.4" tall and .4" wider (10mm) Given our wheel offsets are so close, if you run the 235/40-19, you'll most likely rub like my car. Hard to believe .4" in height and width would rub but... the good news... I do drive my car like a maniac. I do 80-90 on freeways out in Norcal and we have some stupidly serious dips on the freeway. So if you have MUCH better/level roads, probably not an issue. I don't rub IF I drive normally around town. When it rubs, I notice marks on the upper sidewall of the tire - so that tells me the tire is too wide/too close to the fender... afterall .4" is pretty significant. Throw in manufacturer tire variations and it's a crapshoot. This is why I suggest maybe moving your offset inward say to 36 or 38 from your 28. At 36 or 38 you can use spacers if you want to play with the wheel offset. Note a 32 on a 19x9 puts the rim almost flush with the fender BUT will give tire rub on a wider tire. Or you can raise the car, at stock ride height I got no rub... but visually, what fun is that? Some of the other forum guys may chime in, but your wheel shop may confirm this too. I definitely see what you're saying and appreciate the explanation, it makes sense. I'm still having a bit of a hard time deciding because i see some guys on here with the same car with more aggressive offsets in the front or a+32 offset with chunkier tires. Check the links below:
link below is 235/40/19(stretched on 9") at ET29 up front, lowered on h&r springs. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4&postcount=63 link below is 245/40/19(taller/wider than 235/40/19) at ET32 on F36, https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1622695 |

Well keep in mind, I'm describing rub under a bit more aggressive driving conditions. I'm not your average BMW driver. I've got a good thousand miles on tracks up here in Norcal and come from Miatas, E36 M3s, and my last car was a BRZ. I give my 435i throttle going into a turn, brake, late apex, and throttle on exit. I get tire wear on the outer edge of my tires because I push pretty hard. So I'm kinda used to throwing my car around.
There's generally a compromise when it comes to street cars - there's looks versus performance. So it's a dance between getting what we want the car to do and looking how we want it to. ![]() If you are a mellow, straight line power, street cruising guy, - you won't rub. But if your car will see some hard street driving and track days, you will - but it won't matter as you'll expect it. |

AhzeeF32 - I'd say that was smart. Between your 8.5 rim and ET32 offset your tire will be 8mm-9mm inside more than my car. That's a pretty good amount of room for the wheel to move around in.
I think you'll like the 235 and 265 size. It's a beefier tire (taller/wider) so the ride will be much better than what you have now. Plus there's a slight stretch on the tire which does look kinda cool too. Enjoy! Always fun getting new toys!! Last edited by exE36M3; 04-19-2023 at 10:36 AM.. |

Totally looking forward to it! The beefier set up is exactly what i'm looking for. Thanks again for getting in detail and explaining this to me. (It really can super confusing haha)
BTW post some other pictures of your car with the set up you had that is similar to what I'm getting. Would love to see some other angles of the fitment |

So i got the wheels and tires on and everything fits with no problem. To get a tighter fit i added a 10mm spacer to the front making it a +22 offset and I added a 5mm to the rears which makes it a +35 offset. There's no poke in the front at all and a very slight poke in the rear (maybe by 1-2mm) but when springs are compressed the natural camber tucks right into the wheel well.
PS: Sorry the cars a bit dirty. Needs a wash as soon as the rain stops lol |

Damn sexy car!! Where'd you get the front lip from? Looks more stable and firm than the flimsy m sport one especially the knock off's. Lol. I'm planning to run 20mm rear spacers on stock height and everything on my 428i m sport. 442m wheels 255/35/19 contitact 5 tires. I measured it and also researched the forums and everyone says it's okay. Almost perfect. Thanks! |

basically the thickness of the disk or backpad; where the wheels mounts to the rotor. if you are buying fully custom wheels you can get a super custom size but most 3 piece custom wheels let you pick from 3 choices. fronts usually need to be thicker just to clear calipers but rear wheels can be a much thinner one since not a lot of caliper to clear usually and you can get much more aggressive offsets that way; or deep dish looking wheels if you will. so look how much clearance you have of your caliper and wheel spokes when it goes over the caliper, basically if you were trying to design a show quality fitment you could sacrifice all but about 1mm of caliper clearance and add that to the aggressive offset. plus different tire brands stretch or curve differently as well (not all sidewalls are created equal ![]() also i was able to daily aggressively drive my last FBO 3'er slammed in the front without rubbing then took a much larger co-worker to lunch one day and had to break check on the highway and damn did we smell melty tire...

Hello everyone, idk if anyone is active on this forum but I wanted to ask for opinions on what fitment should I run on my 428i, I have stock wheels rn and I’m planning on lowering it soon on h&r springs but I’m kind of a newbie when it comes to fitment and I’m kinda getting lost on what I should run when I lower it
Only picture I got to the stock fitment If anyone is active please I would appreciate your advice and opinions since I’m new to the car scene🙂‍↕️ |
