Anyone know what this dial is for?

I just received a new light switch to swap out for my car but not sure what this dial is for. It has 0 1 2 settings level. I plugged in and tried to adjust the dial but there is nothing changed in the light internal or external.

it allows for minor adjustments to cars without the auto level sensor. Looks like you bought a EU model kit. Perfectly fine, that knob just wont do anything until you code it (same with the rear fogs)

(edit: corrected thanks to J555)

Not exactly. It is adjustment only for cars with basic halogen headlights without auto level sensor. The cars equipped with xenon or LED headlights come with auto level sensor without the dial and possibility of user adjustment.

I have one too.
Keep your original also as it does throw a “shadow” code For incorrect light switch fitted. If you ever need any sort of software update you will need to put the original one back in to avoid issues at dealership.

You can actually fix that by coding the correct switch.

For example, i bought the one without the adjuster but with the rear fog light. Had to update the code under FEM_BODY> 3064 LCECONFIGURATION>LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR

Use the following table to select the right option:

BEL = beleuchtung = lighting.
FLC = (automatische) fahrlichtsteuerung = (automatic) headlight control.
NSW = nebelscheinwerfer = front fog lights.
NSL = nebelschlussleuchten = rear fog lights.
LWR = leuchtweitenregulierung = headlight range adjustment (not in North America).

Since he’s in North Carolina I’m pretty sure he can’t code it in. It’s the adjuster that is an issue, since all factory US switches have the rear fog already built in to them.
I know I can’t code the switch type to be correct since I have adaptive Xenons and US spec. I jsut didn’t want to deal with transferring the nano led over to illuminate the rear fog button on the stock one. That’s more work than transferring switches if I ever needed to.

I have LED adaptive headligt and I already coded the rear fog light to work with the rear fog light switch. For now, that dial just stay there for decoration until I can map it to something useful
