F31: OEM 359M or OEM 513M

Ok fellow enthusiasts, I'm here asking for opinions on which setup you like. Obviously, it will come down to my personal preference but some discussion and pictures to get us talking is always enjoyable.

I've been running square 359's over the past few months and as perfect as they are, the comfort with the 35 profile is less than ideal on these awful inner loop Houston roads. So, I just swapped to the 513's this week and comfort has improved a lot with the 40 profile and the style has definitely grown on me. I don't want to keep both sets so lets see which will make the cut and I'll get a proper shoot with the winner

OEM 359M 19x9 et31 square with 245/35

VS

OEM 513M 18x9 et29 front 18x10 et40 rear with 255/40 square

I am bias here my F31 has 513s and love the look. I feel both wheels look great, but the 513 bit greater.

513's look meaner, and i'm sure the comfort from the 40 series makes her drive even smoother!! It's a win win!!

I prefer lighter color/silver wheels on dark colored cars, so immediately I think the 359's look better. I would only have darker wheels on a lighter colored car. Plus I just like the design and bigger size of the 359's. Both look great but I'd go for the 359's.

359's are surely more unique, but the 513M do look better IMO. Ultimately can't go wrong with either.

513m. I have them too! Plus they're easier to clean. I've been lazy and haven't washed my wheels and they look gunmetal-ish with the M performance brake dust lol.

Both setups looks great!

But I like the color of the 513's with your black Touring.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Looks like my decision to go with the 513's will stick.

The brake dust with these pads are ridiculous haha. Are you also staggered with square 255/40?

Yes. Staggered wheels with 255/40/18 square.

No clearance issues in the front either? I was debating trying to put together a square 18x9 setup but I'd need to find buyers for the 18x10s

What tires do you have and hows the fit of the 255/40/ on the 18x10?

No issues whatsoever. Using factory Michelin 255/40/18's. Probably one of the more economical setups since you can find used pairs of the 255/40 from M owners.

513m for sure. I don't see many sets of them on the road, they're light, and the tires size is perfect.

Edit: I am biased.

I am thinking to go with the same setup as yours. However, In Picture #4. Rears look very stretched compared to fronts. Is that because of shadow? can you post more pictures?

Shadows are definitely playing its role in that pic. However, it still is stretched when compared to the front 255/40 on the 9". I really don't want to go down to a 35 series, but anything more, for example, 265/40 may be too aggressive.

Anyone have experience running 265/40 plus on the rear 10"?

with a 265/40 rear you'll have to stretch 235/45 on the 9" front for x-drive.

if you weren't real low you could actually put a 285/35 on the rear with the 255/40 front. it'd still be within limits for x-drive however the rear tire shoulder would poke some.

I like the idea of 235/45 front and 265/40 Rear. Shows 0% difference overall height. Thanks

Just throwing this out there, but I wouldn't even consider a staggered setup with these wheels. Would go square with 18x9 ET29 to reduce understeer and reduce wear on the transfer case.

I've actually found a local guy willing to swap his 9" fronts (M4) for my 10" rears so we can both go square

IMHO, the 513M offset is too aggressive on the F3x. But they are one of the best looking wheels BMW produces.

+1 on the 513M set.
