Review: Magnaflow catback exhaust #19297
FYI
sharing my first impressions having had it on my car for a few hours. visually the exhaust looks good with the thick walled 4" polished exits. minor issue is the slight alignment. the exhaust sits slightly more on the RHS such that the LHS exit sits against the diffuser at 3 o'clock position. mechanic said he can't do anything about it and believes the exhaust just hasn't been welded straight. Sound right? soundwise, in comfort mode it's a little louder and deeper than stock which is good for just cruising around. it's subtle, say 5-10% louder. there is maybe a tiny liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle drone at about 1500-2000rpm but it's still comfortable and i dont have any complaints. in Sport mode, it is louder, possible +15%. not the throaty sound of the stock exhaust but more or less more bassy. doesn't quite sound like a bimmer anymore. sounds more like a skyline or something. seems to give me a little more mid range or could just be the sound giving me that impression. in Sports mode, when the car upshifts and drops down to a lower rpm under load, it reminds me of the bellow of an sq5 exhaust. the mechanic said it wasnt 100% bolt on like a Miltek, but that said, he didn't mention needing to alter anything. so my only complaint is the exits being off centre. i paid about $2,600 AUD + $250 fitting which seems to be a decent saving over bigger name brands for a cat back. So overall it's quite mild which is good as i don't want to look or sound like a rice boy.

Not yet but will post when I get some time
I noticed a knocking sound from the rear during start up which apparently is because the exit is knocking on the diffuser. According to the mechanic the exit and/hangers aren't straight. Disappointing. Need to spend more to have a exhaust shop fix it. Soundwise I think it's ok though. Vrsf catted down pipe going on it in a few weeks so will try record a below and after |

So had an exhaust shop look at it and the mechanic was right. Imperfection in the exit not being properly aligned when manufactured. They had to cut, align and weld. Wasn't check. $300. Apparently 10% of exhausts we'll have something life this they say. Wish I bought from a local instead of from OS as it would've been covered by the importer.
