Exclamation b48 swapping 330i piston to 320?

Hello guys is it possible to swap a 330i piston to 320i on b48 since most of the part are the same number except for the pistons?

reason is to reduce the compression ratio from 11(320i) to 10(330i)

any is there any alternative beside it. example like thicker head gasket or something?

it just for info and knowledge.

thank you

It's completely possible, but is it really worth doing? The amount of work it takes to take apart an engine is non-trivial and the cost of doing so is probably way more than either swapping an engine or selling the 320i and getting a 330i.

yes that true.
but over here bmw stop selling f30 lci petrol version.
only focus on the 330E and the base 318i.

so it is possible to swap the pistons. thats nice to hear for future mods if want to go for higher boost.

by the way is there any other way to reduce the 320i compression ration beside changing pistons? like thicker head gasket for example?

If you're opening up the engine and are looking to run higher boost, you might want to look into aftermarket forged internals. OEM engine parts run at a really high cost and the difference in price for forged after market is small.
