Yes to improve the brightness of the pre existing ambient lighting just swap the board for the one from Benz linked and hey presto.


On the Benz site OEM is orange 605

Brilliant thanks, been looking at the brighter ones from Ali express but those involved changing the whole strips on the door cards which I didn't fancy doing.
This is how bright the original ones should have been imo

Yes mate so much easier than replacing the whole strip which are a pain to remove.


This option is much cheaper aswell. Benzinfrabik also have other colour options aswell.

Yippee my new optic fibre arrived today so plan to complete ambient lighting this weekend when I attempt my tweeters. 🤞🏽

First picture shows how the 3mm optic fibre is a perfect fit inside the module.

Does anyone have any pictures of the upgraded LEDs fitted with black panels? The photos on there show them with a cre interior and I'm just wondering if they are as bright with the black interior

I really wanna do this, especially now they have purple SMD's on their boards.. problem is my interior is red, somehow I don't think the purple will look so great lol

Mmm yes not sure how the purple would look with red, pretty funky I expect, not sure if any of the guys from the US have that option as they do love a red interior, maybe have a look on the other ambient lighting thread to see if anyone does.

I do really like the purple option and wished they offered orange/purple rather white/colour.


Sticking with orange 605 is a the cheaper option is you have lci already as I found the heater trim to be bright enough already and just upgraded the doors.

And with easy to extend using oem modules sticking with that oem colour.


When I emailed them about other options they did say they plan to release others options later this year.

Funnily enough I was watching some Jamaican M4 widebody review and the dude had RGB ambient lighting, he also had Shakir orange interior and it looked really WEIRD when the purple came on



Think I'm going for blue/white.. I actually have a load of addressable chips left over from my headlight mod so I could just use those but I don't fancy loosing oem controls, I'd have to use my phone to change them (I'm on oem-plus kinda guy lol)

not to subtract from Samir's progress but it looks like you can get replacement speaker covers now with a built in casing made for a light guide - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003567572493.html

Maybe I'm being tight but I don't fancy spending £100 on just the speaker led's lol

March delivery, shipping and import tax just doesn't seem worth the hassle.. think I'm going to try your method with the diffuser strips

Yes that was my thinking as it was only an experiment I wanted to keep the costs down to a minimum, thinking of how import tax would have pushed up the price more, turned me off the complete plug and play solution.

Thankfully the weather is good this weekend for me to work on mine.

Excellent, that's good then. Mine arrived from the seller the other day, all in excellent condition and all had the OEM LED PCB's inside each one. It's a bit of a faff to get the latched lid off the module to change the PCB out. I'm just waiting on Y-cables and 3mm fiber strip to arrive now before I tackle the job, I decided to do the door card lighting and the speakers too. At the moment I've got the ambient lighting turned up full but I reckon I'll be able to dial it down a bit once modified to create a nicer lit cabin.

Just a quick question before I bite the bullet and order the new boards, I have a pre lci, do the new boards fit into the pre lci modules as well as the newer modules?

A small please though, would someone who changes the LED modules in the door cards take some pictures and post them before I start wrecking things.

Yes mate both pre lci and lci led door modules are the same just a change to the board to make them slightly brighter in Lci.

Benzinfabrik fit them both

You will really notice the difference with pre lci, remember to get orange 605 for OEM orange
