Very excited to be back to BMW... I loved my E38 740i, and wish I never got rid of my 850Ci! Interestingly, 20 years later, I can get almost the same power with 1/2 the cylinders... 300 vs 295 bhp, and 295 vs 332 lb-ft.

Production is supposed to be week 39.

I'm so glad we are beyond the Bangle design era. The new designs look new, but connect for me more with the classic BMW look.

I updated my order and dropped Leatherette. I sat in an X1 today and we drove for an 1/2 hour and let me say I don't mind the material, but it holds heat too much (car heat & body heat) and makes my back sweat! No way I could deal with that. So I added ZPP to my order. I also got tired of the 'to ZDH' or 'not to ZDH'. I figured Comfort mode would be very valuable to my passengers, so I added that too.

Does anyone know why active blind spot detection is not available when you get the M Sport package for the 435i? It's really strange.

This is what the ordering guide says:
ZDB and ZMM will delete 5AG from the order

I see you are from Toronto.. there are no "Lines" for the 435 in Canada, you get the M-Sport or nothing F32. Also, there is no 5AG and no ZDB offered, and the package groups are different than the US.

I'm guessing that they figure if you are ordering an M Sport, you already know how to set your mirrors so there is no blind spot...

Thanks for your reply, yes I'm from Toronto. I mentioned this based on the US packages since most people here are from the US. But this applies to both Canada and the US...you just can't get the Active Blind Spot detection with an M Sport Coupe.

If they figure that people ordering M Sport won't need this option, then why would they have it for the 335i's with M Sport? Basically, from the Canadian ordering guide, the option is part of the ZE5 Executive Package. It is there if you configure a 335i M Sport and it costs $2,500. For the 435i M Sport, the Executive package is there as well for the same price and all the options included are the same as the 335i ZE5 except the Active Blind Spot Detection is omitted....so it is not as good of a deal.

I'm wondering since this option requires cameras on the rear bumper, they were somehow not able to install it for the 435i M Sport bumper....or maybe they ran out of time for it to be available for the 2014 models.

I think most of us placed the order in July... some in August. But, this doesn't really dictate when production will start since it's not really a first-come, first-served situation. It really depends on how many allocations the dealer has available when you placed the order. You might need to wait a month or two before your order even gets an allocation and assigned a production number. Someone at another dealership could place their order a month after you and get a production number the next day.

I put a deposit for a 435i xDrive on 9/13, and will have to wait for allocation to be available with dealer here in VA.

bah, i placed mine mid august and there were 2-3 slots open at the dealership which i ordered from. as of now i'm still at "your vehicle is scheduled for production, with no confirmed production date". i probably call the number 10x a day :X

originally the dealer said the car was supposed to be in production week 37 and now we're coming midway of 38. only thing he could tell me was "should be any day now" and that bmw rarely follows scheduled production weeks for certain builds.
