oddly enough I saw a tiktok video last week where a guy had done this and showed them working. It renewed my interest in it cause once my turbo is ordered my build is done so I can move on to stuff like this.

Also check this out. https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/produ...t=63117408703K

These look to be similar shape and size to the f30 headlights, so using this (G11 2016 7 series headlight) it might fit into the f30 housing

It would be really neat to see laser headlights in an F30. I used to be fairly active in the retrofit community. My first was fitting Audi A6 projectors into a 1997 Buick LeSabre, and my last was Morimoto bixenons into a 1996 Chevrolet S10.

I'm afraid my retrofitting days are behind me. The exorbitantly high prices of the factory headlight housings as well as the coding nightmares involved are just too much for me to give it a shot.

But, if you are able to get it done, I'd sure like to see it!

I agree with auburnf30x. With enough time and money, anything is possible. I did retrofit in Subaru WRX with complete custom housing.

Like Elon Musk said: “When something is important enough you do it even if the odds are not in your favor”

He did not let the naysayers which you found in this thread influence him. He was the first to install a G series steering wheel in his F30 (2018) and I am not sure anyone else has been able to do it to this day! He also had night vision installed in his F30 along with retrofitting ATMs into a Pre-LCI vehicle with NBT EVO iDrive 6, CarPlay and a 10.2” Touchscreen. When banned a year ago, this forum lost access to the person who was able to do things like this unfortunately.
Sorry if I'm doing thread necromancy here, but is there any more info you can offer about their work work? I'm currently looking at buying an F31 330i, and am intrigued by the prospect of retrofitting various things not offered on the F3x, namely better headlights (I've driven a 340i LCI with Adaptive LEDs and they honestly feel worse than the 25 year old Xenons in my 996) and NiVi. I can't seem to find much anything else about ik6speed or their retrofits though. Thanks!

EDIT: I am an idiot and assumed he would not show up in the user search area. He does. I'll write to him, sorry to bother you.

Spoke with him on another platform.

Due to the prices of Laser Headlights guts as well as the F3x headlights that need to be gutted to build the lasers into, it a good $6k retrofit minimum and takes several months find acceptable used headlights/parts and then custom build the headlights.

Same for the F8x models. The biggest benefit on the F30/F31 is it corrects the crappy LED issues associated with that model, besides just really being much better looking.

Yikes. I drove a Euro G26 with laser lights a few weeks ago, and that was seriously impressive, I just don't know if its 6k and a bodge job impressive. That price makes me more inclined to just deal with the LEDs. Time will tell, but perhaps this will get cheaper as more of these cars with lasers end up getting parted out due to the inevitable crashes. No idea if its possible to put pre-LCI Xenons into an LCI, but that might be a cheaper and easier fix to BMW's penny pinching with the LCI LED offerings (seriously why are they reflectors).

Also, any chance you could help me get in touch with him? I've not been able to message him here as he is banned, and I would like his insight about the NiVi situation on the F3x. From what I can gather thats not quite as wallet-draining, but I know next to nothing about how the mod goes together beyond a bill of materials, and information on that is exceedingly hard to come by.

Thanks again!

I assure you @ik6speed did not use these. He used BMW OEM F30 casings with BMW OEM EU Lasers mounted inside that were also Adaptive with all the other EU options that the AliExpress units never will be.
