oddly enough I saw a tiktok video last week where a guy had done this and showed them working. It renewed my interest in it cause once my turbo is ordered my build is done so I can move on to stuff like this.
Also check this out. https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/produ...t=63117408703K These look to be similar shape and size to the f30 headlights, so using this (G11 2016 7 series headlight) it might fit into the f30 housing Last edited by TheFanatic; 06-22-2021 at 07:00 AM.. |

It would be really neat to see laser headlights in an F30. I used to be fairly active in the retrofit community. My first was fitting Audi A6 projectors into a 1997 Buick LeSabre, and my last was Morimoto bixenons into a 1996 Chevrolet S10.
I'm afraid my retrofitting days are behind me. The exorbitantly high prices of the factory headlight housings as well as the coding nightmares involved are just too much for me to give it a shot. But, if you are able to get it done, I'd sure like to see it!

I agree with auburnf30x. With enough time and money, anything is possible. I did retrofit in Subaru WRX with complete custom housing.
Like Elon Musk said: “When something is important enough you do it even if the odds are not in your favor”

Due to the prices of Laser Headlights guts as well as the F3x headlights that need to be gutted to build the lasers into, it a good $6k retrofit minimum and takes several months find acceptable used headlights/parts and then custom build the headlights. Same for the F8x models. The biggest benefit on the F30/F31 is it corrects the crappy LED issues associated with that model, besides just really being much better looking. |

Also, any chance you could help me get in touch with him? I've not been able to message him here as he is banned, and I would like his insight about the NiVi situation on the F3x. From what I can gather thats not quite as wallet-draining, but I know next to nothing about how the mod goes together beyond a bill of materials, and information on that is exceedingly hard to come by. Thanks again! |
