Test Drove F30 328 base

The car had premium and cold packages. Great power, very nice sporty but very comfortable ride, steering felt pretty natural. However when I got into my 2007 e92 335 it felt every bit as good with definitely better steering feel. Also e92 sports seats were so much better than the base seats in F30.

Def test a 328 sportline if you get a chance, tho nothing will be like the N54

I have a E92-335i/N55-xDrive. Yesterday I had the opportunity to test drive a Black/Black 328i Sport Line and agree with your review. If I didn't know better I would have assumed the car when applied in Sport-Mode was equipped with a inline-six- twin-scroll turbo. The N20 exceeded my expectation in terms of power and acceleration, the steering was precise and overall it handled well. But IMHO, compared to the E92 the suspension seemed a bit too light and soft. May have to give it another go before rendering a final decision.

A related topic regarding the interior. Anyone who has not seen, but has ranted about the Sport Line's interior with black [red-accented] leather seats combined with the red stripe running across the dash, it's all good; given if you're into an understated, upscale look.

What makes the n54 engine so good? I've seen a lot of 2008-2009 335's out there lately and might drive a 2008 335xi sedan this weekend, which would have that engine, right?

It's a very robust & powerful engine, although if the HPFP issues were still running rampant, you might hear another tune in this forum outside of exorbitant praise. I love my '08 335xi...but the engine still has its days where I wonder if the HPFP is just gonna die on me again. LOL

It was putting out around 330-340 horses, at least the really early ones.

I think if its an e90 lci it has the n55.

If the F30 had the N54, it would have been a much more difficult choice. And i never had any HPFP issues with either of my N54's

Mine is a very early build - October 2006. The fuel pump was changed twice: once due to a failure and the second time dealer just replaced it due to the recall. The car has only 47K and still under the extended GEICO warranty (7/100k) for another 1.5 years. I love the car but will be hesitant to keep it beyond the extended warranty; we had lots of troubles with e46 330 after it crossed 70k.

Not sure, N54 has 2 turbos vs. the N55, also if the car is LCI it prob has N55
