Runflat Tyre Repair
Hi all,
I got a puncture in my O/S/R tyre this week so took it into Costco and the guy there said that they don`t repair runflats but said that there could be a leaking valve or seal so he would check it for me. Anyway he came back saying i had a screw in the tyre, so i asked him is it in a repairable position and he replied yes it was and that they could definitely repair it but Costco policy is not to repair them, sorry. He suggested finding a decent independent as Kwikfit and the likes wouldn't repair runflats either. It is a Goodyear Asymmetric 2 255/35/19 RF. So my obvious question is, is there anyone here who can recommend someone who is trusted near Penicuik Midlothian? cheers in advance.

You just need virtually any garage to do it. The process is the same as a normal tyre. Phone a couple up and ask them. There is only a problem if the tyre has been driven for a distance with little or no pressure.

I am taking it into Redpath Tyres on Monday as they were recommended by a few guys.

Please reconfirm if the puncture is in the repairable position, or as close as possible to the center and away from the side wall. If that's the case, normal tire puncture repair will be sufficient as long as the tire has not been driven deflated for some time.

Yes it`s definitely in a repairable position as the Costco fitter said.

I won`t usually go anywhere near the Kwikfuks and the like, all you hear about is damaged rims and the like. Been lucky not to have had a puncture in years till now.

The reason why many garages don't repair run-flats is because their wall will become compromised if you drive on it for too long whilst being flat - something they cannot know or guarantee. How long is too long however - i don't know!
If you've not driven it below ~10psi however, it should be fine under the usual terms (center 3/4 tread iirc). |

Thanks guys. But since getting that puncture fixed I have got another screw in the tyre which is too near the sidewall so have had to get a new tyre. Pissed.
