Clock time never changes!
Hey folks, recently purchased an F30 320ED (2012) coming from a 2008 M Sport 320d e90 I am just getting used to it, it's very similar though!
Anyhow, there seems to be an issue with the car time, the date is correct, but whenever I set the clock, it just stays at that time, never moves. There is no option in settings to have it 'automatically update' the only options I have are time zones (which all show UTC, UTC + 1 etc etc) it does not show GMT for some reason? But one of the UTC options shows London so I chose that. I tried changing it to a different zone, turning off car, waiting, turning on, putting back to correct zone, but it has not made a difference. Any ideas? :/ |

I had this exact same issue approx. 2 years ago with a 2015 (pre-LCI) 320d M Sport after going from a 2012 F30 320d ED. Did the deal over the phone with a dealer over 200 miles from where I live. They delivered it to me on the back of a trailer - everything looked fine at the time. Straight after delivery, went for a drive with the wife - she spotted it instantly! I did exactly what you did - resetting etc but no joy. Got in touch with the dealer the same afternoon who told me to take to my local dealer. To cut a long story short, they couldn't fix it themselves, and got BMW to remote into the car from Germany. Again still couldn't be fixed - they told me it would be on a software update which was at least 6 months away. After a lot of to and fro-ing, I rejected the car but the original supplying dealer did me a deal with a lot of help from my local dealer and BMW UK (advice and financially) I'm now the proud owner of a LCI 330d. Much more fun! I hope they've fixed the software now so you don't go through all the hassle I did.

Ahh bugger, i'll speak to the local BMW garage and ask if there are any software updates available, preferably without being fleeced out of a ton of money! I bought it from an independent garage up North and drove back home yesterday and realised it then! I got the obligatory 3 month RAC warranty but that no doubt will be useless in this instance. Here goes nothing calling the dealer...! |

Do you have to pay it if they find a fault?

Ok bit of an update - I disconnected the negative battery terminal for 45 mins or so. Reconnected it,set the time and it now seems to work... Very odd!
That said it's giving me a low battery warning now as it was disconnected for so long lol. Will see how it goes over next few days! |

I picked up my new (to me) 330d F31 yesterday and discovered the exact same clock-not-running issue on the 390 mile journey home, due to not being able to easily (without calculations) get an ETA from the satnav.
I did the 'disconnect negative terminal for 45 minutes' routine today and 'hey presto!' it's now fully working. Thanks TeaAndBiscuits for this simple fix! Last edited by TheLincolnshirePoacher; 08-24-2019 at 07:05 PM.. |
