XHP Transmission Tune - Upshift Brap

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello everyone,

I know some people really don't like it but I've always wanted that upshift-DSG sound brap/fart.

Currently running the Stage 3 Map from XHP and I have no absolute complaints. I honestly love it.

The upshift/downshifts in Sport+ is lightning quick. Damn near feels like a damn DCT without the bucking.

I'm really not too educated on how to mess with the parameters but prior to the XHP tune I'd get a little bit up brap action on the upshifts.

Now after the tune I don't get anything except crispy instant up shifts! Hahaha

If I could I'd only want the upshift braps in normal sports mode or in comfort. I understand that it can cause some turbo lag so I don't want it in full race mode (sport+)

Cheers everyone

“Torque reduction upshifts” is the setting you are looking for. The higher the slider, the more audible it should be. (To a point)
Keep in mind this changes the preset setting for the selected stage. So stage 2 may have more default torque reduction shifts then stage 3. I tried to get consistant “farts” with stage 3 and the slider at +30 but couldnt get it. i think xhp prioritized shift speed for stage 3. I went back to stage 2 with the slider at +25 and it works every time at moderate throttle or more. You exhaust setup will also effect how much you hear it.
I also have “Soft shifts in sport mode” enabled which might also have an effect.

I have resonator delete and open DP's.

I'll have to try this out man I really want to find the sweet spot without messing with too much of the OTS settings.

Appreciate it man

Yup, in increase the tq reduction upshifts for more of the sound you're looking for.

Doesn’t turning the torque reduction up technically make your shifts slower? I have mine down -15 on gears 1-3 and -25 on gears 4-6 and 7-8 -15

Going the opposite has the same effect as drag mode and hurts the trans sooner so...

I did exactly what you said as the initial test. Was not able to achieve any of the DSG-sound.

I tried some other parameters and yet nothing seemed to work.

I guess my car isn't meant to be!

Until then I'll just enjoy the stage 3 OTS map.

I just go as far as -15% and leave it around there.

My settings sit at -10% TQ reduction, it's pretty negligible in wear, but does shift noticeably quicker.

It doesn't actually shift quicker. Just feels like it since you aren't pulling a bunch of extra timing on the shifts etc so there is less of a lull..

I think the correct term would be there's no dip after the shifts, I've logged it and you can see the difference in revs, the car is faster with that option, that I know for sure, I ran it for quite a bit on my N55.

So to get more brap sounds on up shifts, I need to move the slider to the right?
