CEL from charge pipe install?

Hi, had an ER charge pipe installed and after going going 4/5ths WOT had the CEL come on, contacting the shop today as I assume there is boost leak or something but just wondering if this can happen like how a DP can throw a CEL but not be malfunctioning.

Thanks

I just changed out my broken OEM unit for a VRSF unit, with zero issues. Some possibilities:

1.If your pipe is a 2-piece unit, the silicone "connector" may not have been properly positioned or the clamps may not have been tight enough, resulting in a boost leak.

2. If the car's electrical system wasn't "asleep" when the TMAP sensor was disconnected, that will definitely throw a code and a resultant CEL.

3. The "bung" plug(s) may not have been fully tightened (the one on mine wasn't), also resulting in a boost leak.

4. Check that the collar that goes around the throttle body is pushed all the way on - there should be only a very small gap between the top of the pipe and the mating surface on the throttle body.

If you re-used the OEM o-rings, check their orientation.

I have an ER on mine. When I first put it on I did not tighten the silicone part tight enough and on a test run it came off. No CEL or codes but I know the feeling when a CP comes off. You might want to check the codes--could be an issue with the Tmap--sensitive part. Did the car feel normal?

Hi all,

The car felt almost normal, maybe it was placebo but I swore it had slightly slower throttle response.

Took it in and there was a hose that had a kink in it, and they corrected it. Car appears to be all good now, no CEL and I made sure to give it WOT a few times to test if anything is loose.

Thanks again for the responses! Great community here!
