My CEL came on a week ago and I've been getting bad MPG like 16-18 on average. I have a 2015 228i N20 engine at 92k on the odometer. Only mod is injen intake. Plugged into my autel reader today and got these codes:
190F08: Fuel Tank ventilation system fault 801225: A/C compressor shutdown due to vacuum in refrigerant circuit (odd because my AC works fine) 138104: Exhaust flap activation circuit open (I unplugged my flap so it's always open) I was really expecting to get a bad O2 sensor code from what I was reading online. But the only thing I think it could be is the 190F08: Fuel Tank ventilation system fault. I used the clear all codes function on my autel and that got rid of the CEL. But I don't think it will fix my bad fuel economy. I am also expecting to do spark plugs soon as I'm getting close to the 100k mark anything else I can do preventative maintenance? I am really hoping my timing chain holds up. |

Cleared my codes and CEL and it still hasn't came back. Gas mileage is still terrible averaging 16MPG. Really confused as to what could be causing the fuel efficiency to be so poor. I don't drive like a madman, something is causing the ECU to want to run everything super rich.

UPDATE: Car's gas mileage has improved slightly to averaging around 21-22MPG.
190F08 (Fuel Tank Ventilation System Fault) came back after about a week of driving. My scanner recommends replacing the fuel tank vent valve and checking connections from tank vent valve to intake pipe. |
