VRSF Catless Downpipe for N26 Review
I just installed the VRSF downpipe on my 328i, and I gotta say, I have no idea why I waited so long for this mod. The install was pretty straight forward, it’s all about reaching some bolts in annoying places, then putting it all back together. There were no problems at all with the fitment, so I'm not sure why one would spend more on a downpipe as it's just a hollow tube.
You can't smell that the car is catless with the windows up. If you roll down your windows and you come to a stop after WOT or aggressive downshifting, then you can smell a difference. But honestly, I am running E30 now, and I dig the E85 smell. That being said, I would highly recommend a tune with a cold start delete because if you are anything near straight piped the cold start sequence will be one of the most annoying things you will ever hear :P Also, going catless allowed me to go Stage 2 with E30 on my BM3 tune. The burbles now sound like pops and I am making much more power. Made a video while installing it (this is not a DIY video) and there are a couple sound clips at the end Also here is a clip of me just revving it with a lot of pops Last edited by danieliskander; 05-02-2019 at 01:29 AM.. I have measured the 0-60 post-mods and got 4.67sec. But, I feel like I can do better with a better launch. |

What exhaust are you running? VRSF fitment was good for you... I am 100% stock on the engine but thinking of BM3 + DP + exhaust. But I guess I should go intercooler and piping too.. then it gets expensive and I think about leaving it alone again.

I am considering the catless VRSF or the catted ER downpipe because I am worrying about the smell. The catless VRSF would save me about $600. I am in California as well and worry that if I get pulled over the officer will say my car smells funny and want to check the engine. I wish I could just light a joint and cover the smell but I dont think CHP or LAPD would like that either. TL;DR If i get pulled over, will the catless car smell substantially more than if I had a hiflow catted downpipe on instead?
