Cts turbo chargepipe install on n55 automatic awd
I recently installed the CTS TURBO CHARGEPIPE on my f30 335 Xdrive 8AT and it was extremely difficult without a hoist or high lift method.
I am making this post to highly recommend to others doing this upgrade to get a different branded charge pipe. Because of the design of the CTS turbo chargepipe, the ring clamps get tucked underneath an area where you have absolutely no visibility and need to work blindly. You also need to tighten them from underneath with a very long extension and preferably a swivel bit. Other designs like VRSF put the clamps where they should be, where you can see them from the top and reach them. Also it is possible without dropping the intercooler, i had no choice because the bolt head on mine snapped off when i tried, however it is very difficult. Hope this saves someone the headache that I got from this part. |

Just adding to this, is I also just installed the CTS CP. literally had the same issue with a striped t-25 on the IC CP side so did it without removing the IC. It was a pita and I had a lift.
Pretty hard to get to the coupler clamps as I believe my adaptive lights arm was in the way. U-joint socket worked but make sure you have the clamps on the right way before install. I’ll also note that the pipe did come with clamps and o-rings on both ends. CTS nor ECS site show or mention this. The CP seated very snug to the TB with the installed (green) o-ring for me so no need to transfer the OE ring. About a 3 hr job with a lift. An extra set of hands may cut that in half. BTW blew my stock pipe with no tune in sport +. |
