F30 335 potential buyer
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Lately I've been looking into going back to BMW, so I am looking into 2014-15 335i models, msport, automatic. Not interested in xdrive. Manuals are hard to find in correct configuration so auto is OK. I know all about issues with old N54 engines found in E90 cars. My question is, are the newer N55 engines in general more reliable? What are the known issues and at what mileage do they appear? Is electric water pump still failing at higher mileages? What about carbon build-up...unavoidable? This particular car I am looking is 2014 335, msport, ~24k miles, still under manufacturers warranty. I'd appreciate any input from current F30 owners with N55 engines. |

In general, the N55 has been very reliable when compared to the N54. Carbon buildup is still an issue, charge pipes can fail, but no major headaches to speak of yet.
