Once again, BMW cheapens the M brand by putting the M logo on the exhaust! It's not a M car...Christ!

Agree I don't why people get so caught up in the m badge. The car can have a hundred m badge it's not going to be an m car.

also it comes from the factory, its different when you stick it on yourself, if I could have gotten an m-sport without M logos here and there i would have , but all manufacturers are doing it , cus they so an easy way for extra $$$

I would hope the M4 sounds more aggressive.

I also dont understand how there are always lots of "nice" replies to a lot of this stuff here. Almost think (i know its not true but) BMW has got some bots posting here. I dont see how anyone would like this stuff over how the current or the old E46 M3 sounds.

Why do they have to add anything artificial to the sound? Is the original sound THAT bad and boring?
I agree the E46/E9x M3 sound much better, they're V8s. M3 + aftermarket X pipes = awesome. I didn't think the 'burble' was artificial, its backpressure isn't it? I'm biased because I've always like the sound of turbo cars especially inline-6 turbo. It's more refined, the M3 V8 variant sounds as it should: a beast.

The tone sure sounds nice but overall... meh. I'm so spoiled by the S65 it's not even funny.

So does this mean BMW is going to make every stock exhaust horrible and dull so people will have to pay for an "M-performance" exhaust just so their cars can sound respectable??

I think this also means they will make the M4 sound like someone farting in a vacuum so people will have to pay $4k extra for a "M-performance" exhaust for their M4.

Also LOL @ the guy who said he hopes the M4 sounds like that. Wow, just wow.

Well, not totally correct.

M3 E46: I6
M3 E90: V8

However both E46 and E90 is naturally aspirated engines, which of course affect the exhaust sound.

Is that wastegate rattle on decel?

Not the gurgle on the M Perf exhaust but the "ball bearings in a tin can" sound. You can definitely hear it on decel.

Exhaust sound is always subjective, and not well assessed from a video clip. And NA V8s and turbo sixes are going to have a completely different sound, plain and simple. As a side note, I like the stamping on the tips. I have the BMW PE on my N54 E90 and while it sounds great I think the presentation is a bit lacking...tips are a little plain. Would be cool if it was stamped with "BMW Performance."

you are quite uneducated. The new M3/M4 are not even out lol and your making these assumptions as if it is fact. Bmw is not hung up on exhaust "gurgles" or "farting" as you call it. That is natural and happens with pretty much any exhaust system, even on the s65, even on a s54. Most people like it

I've heard several different modified GT-R's and have yet to hear one that's impressed me. A GT-R just doesn't appeal to me personally.
