How much did you pay for the coating?
Was looking at this cheap DIY ceramic coating kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075GFYZ...detail_1?psc=1 .. but I doubt it would be anywhere near as good |

Looks really nice.
How good has the scratch resistance been with this coating?

Good quality cermaic coatings are about £50. Getting the car looking fantastic is all about the prep. |

Agree though it's probably best to spend more on a decent one for use on an expensive car. |

Thank you for kind comments guys. The original prep and coating was done 11 months ago, the car was in for 5 days for the treatment. Cost was £650. I take it in every 6 months for the minor detail refresh. In for 24 hours and costs £150 for each visit. Well worth it, the paintwork is immaculate not a swirl mark in sight. |

I’m really after a good detail and coating system...I’ve been quoted 350 quid for a detail and coating but will only take 1 day! Doesn’t seem like a long time to carry out the works

My ceramic coat has started to fail after 10 months. There is bird etching. It didn't even bake in the sun and I used a bird wipe to remove it within an hour.

Like the OP, my car was away for 5days and £700 as another point of reference, i just did the wifes car myself. Detox, no paint correction (new car), Gtechniq crystal serum light and Exo over. Car was inside for 2days and i spent 6hours doing the work. |

Elgin - AMDetails - one of the best about i gather. He does a lot of testing for GTechniq and also his own range of products.
also heard some good stuff about CarbonShine in BAlmedie |

Just because something is cheap doesn't always mean it's crap. Just because something is expensive doesn't always mean it's better. Just look at the product reviews done by car magazines. |

I do wonder how many of those buying it really have experience of ceramic coatings? I could pour out Gyeon Cure (£15 per bottle) into small bottles and sell for 6 quid each. It would give great hydrophobic qualities and probably a decent shine, but it won't last or provide the benefits of a true high quality ceramic or silica coating. Anyone wanting to complete at home and who has a garage should take a look at Gyeon MOHS.
