rough idle engine stall only when engine is at operating temperature p0300 p0172
Hello all I'm having issues with my 100%stock (no tune or mod)2013 x3 N55 engine where when I cold start it, it idles normal and drives normal. After driving and the engine getting to operating temperature the engine starts to idle very rough and some cases stalls only at idle, but when driving higher rpms it smooths out. The only engine codes I get are p0300 random cylinder misfire and somtimes P0172 system too rich bank 1
I'm at 113k miles and at 100k miles I changed a lot of parts for preventative maintenance such as valve cover and gasket, water pump/thermostat, ofhg, walnut blasting(changed intake manifold gasket), the spark plugs, coils, and even all the fuel injectors (they were coded). Has anyone had similar issues that they can help point me in the right direction? To help I have some readings. Engine cold start normal idle (no rough idle stall symptoms yet) SHRTFT1:0.0 TO -0.8% LONGFT1 -9.4% MAP: 13.9 PSI MAF: 0.01 LB/S BARO:14.5PSI 02S1 1: -0.027ma 02B1 S2:0.765V FRP:1013.8 PSI Engine at operating temperature rough idle misfire stall symptoms SHRTFT1:-23.4% LONGFT1:-28.9% MAP:13.6PSI MAF:0.01LB/S BARO:14.4PSI O2B1 S2:0.730V TO 0.820 FRP:1034 TO 1437PSI 02S1 1:-0.215MA Also my Maf sensor, Map sensor, intake sensor, and charge pipe sensor are all clean though they can still be defective does anyone have readouts on testing these? I should side note that my scanner being used is the Foxwell NT520 Pro and it only scans and live data's on the normal OBDII function. When I tried using the BMW software downloaded on it, it would not communicate with the vehicle. This is a new issue, because I did not have this issue when coding the new battery and injectors previously. It states possible causes: could be ignition being off, check cables between tester and vehicle DLC, check the vehicle battery is charged, verify if the system is configured. I might create a new thread later for this. Thanks for any help guys. Last edited by venomnightrider; 09-30-2018 at 03:35 PM.. |

I just wanted to update this for anyone having a similar issue down the road. I ended up ordering a new HPFP and replacing it, which solved the problem. Any N55 between
(12/01/2011 — 05/28/2014) will come with a newer style HPFP part number 13517610761, which you can still buy, but if you are replacing it there is a revised newer model part number 13518604231 from 3/17/14 on that you will need to purchase part number 12518638006, which is a different electrical connector. You will need to simply cut out your factory connector and replace it with the newer one for the new HPFP, which is a simple task. |
