Congrats!

it is truly a great car. I love mine. I've had mine for 2.5yrs and has about 40k miles on it now. Keep in mind that it is a little noisier than a gas car..

Only issues I've had with are, one of the side cameras got water in the housing and had a complete DEF leak. I brought the car into the dealer and they fixed the leak under warranty. I guess a pipe ruptured and they had to replace it. Other issues I've had is during extreme cold weather I need to plug a battery caddy to keep the battery at a sufficient charged level. But since you're in the US and not Canada I don't think you'll have problem with that. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with it.

I coded the car so that it would start in eco pro mode all the time but I've driven the car on the highway at about 80mph for periods 2-3h straight. The car runs like a charm and it is the best car I've owned so far.

Hopefully final update. SCR/DEF Metering line leaking. Replaced under goodwill. They stated that a lot of parts needed to be removed to replace the line. My cost would have been somewhere (for all 3 visits) between $6k and $7k. If the line failed due to corrosion, i would label it "susceptible". Even in MN, @ 3 years and 50k miles. nothing should be rusting to the point of failure on a BMW. Maybe the line just lost some kind of seal. I dont know, they never showed me the problem first hand.

This sounds exactly like the leak I've had. My car had a lot less mileage though .. but cold weather, snow/sleet and salt may be the contributing factor ...

Yeah, i think the clock is ticking now. If these lines have a shortened lifespan in cold weather i really do not want to pay to have it replaced again before we sell the car. We have a 100k mile extended warranty with the service plan. Which, not covering it...means i want to get as much out of it as i can, but dont want to go through that again. Gonna have to figure out some good timing on selling it. :\

why not, they're collector items now with BMW not bringing wagons to our shores anytime soon.

Have a 2014 with 82000km. Other than low battery warnings I had 0 issues.
I use battery tender one a week in very cold weather.
So happy with the car, my new lease next month will be a 328d msport 2018

Is it fact that a G2x wagon won't come here? I bet on it, but saw nothing official.

Yea I dunno but I read rumors somewhere that in 2019 no more 3 series wagons for N America.
Maybe they will bring back the 5 wagon? I hope.

I have a 2014 328d with 120,000 miles on it. Zero problems except a check engine light about an hour after I picked it up new with 4 miles on it... Dealer reset it and it has never come back on. All regular maintenance done at the dealer at prescribed intervals. Great car/engine, in my case - not even so much as a bad light bulb. I'm on my 3rd set of tires, and still running the original brakes - but they are due to get changed at the next service visit...

2014_328d_Engine_Surge

On my 2014 328d the engine will surge a bit from time-to-time after coming to a stop--such as at a stop light. If I shift into Park while at the stoplight the surging stops and the engine idles smoothly. I took it in to the BMW service center just before the warranty period ended and the BMW service department said the car was within BMW specs but after a day or two of driving the service center finally experienced the surge. They compared the air flow with a new BMW and said they thought mine pressure was too low and so replaced a sensor--maybe the mass airflow sensor?--anyway, that was about a year ago and the surging still occurs from time-to-time and just curious if anyone else has experienced similar.

BtW--awesome car!! I’ve gotten in excess of 60mpg on highway drives and daily city/highway driving averages in the 50s mpg. Disappointed that this is the last year a german diesel sedan will be available in the US market because (other than the surging annoyance above) the car is damn near perfect and a joy to drive. In just over five years, I’ve literally spent less than $500 on maintenance--(the car came with free maintenance for the first four years).

Is the car going through a DPF regen when the surging is happening?

Thanks FaRKle! short answer is...I’m not sure. What is a DPF regen? Is this where the DEF or AdBlue stuff is used to perform emissions control, burn off soot from the particulate filter, etc? If so, yes that was one idea I’d entertained but how can I be sure. Does the car notify you when a DPF regen is happening? Or how could you know it was happening or when it was happening?
