Any Other High-Mileage 328d's Out There?
My dad's got a '14 328d xDrive Sedan and he just hit 91,000 Miles. He bought the car back in October of 2014 with 11,000 Miles on it.
Are there any other high mileage 328d's out there? He's had almost no issues with the car and my question is what will happen once the 100k mile warranty ends? Should he keep the car? Or should he sell the car in fear of expensive problems?

it,s a diesel, so this mileage should not be any problem at all.. strange thing people have, if a car reaches more then 100.000km , then they think it has already a high mileage. sure you can drive another 100.000 miles without any problem.

Mine currently just broke 40,000 miles; but I'll be up there pretty quick. I commute 125 miles a day, which is why I bought this car to begin with. Prior to this BMW; I owned a 2012 VW Golf diesel; which I just sold back to VW in February. in 56 months of ownership it had 170,000 miles on it when I turned it in.
Diesels can easily go well beyond 200k as long as they are maintained well, the engine should be the least of your concerns. |

My 2011 Jetta TDI has 241,000 miles and is running strong with zero issues. I'm confident (if it weren't going back to VW) it would continue to run for another 200K miles or more. Like Uber Commuter, I have a long commute (172 miles round trip daily) and that's what drew me to the 328d. I just bought mine last week with 54K miles on it. I'm confident it will run a good long time with regular servicing. I did see, while on a business trip to India, that the hotels use BMW diesels and have excellent results with them. |

So far I'm sitting around 67k on my '14 without any issue other than maintenance, I bought it brand new with 23 miles on it back in March of '14. I'm planning on keeping it long past the extended warranty unless I pick up a good deal on a 328d Sport wagon since we apparently aren't getting the wagon with the G20

lol....got excited over nothing. Dang. 90k is nothing. lol.
The old way of thought was that a diesel didn't even get broke in until it hit 100K. Not sure if that is still the case or not. But either way, a well maintained diesel should see way beyond 300K miles. Not to say that you won't have peripheral failures / replacements like a water pump, or alternator or something. But a well maintained diesel engine is like the engergizer bunny...keeps going, and going...

Diesels should last longer as they are built stronger to withstand the higher pressures in the cylinder needed to burn diesel so it should not be a problem. There may be other issues that come up, however. Some cars will prove to be more reliable than others.

My 2014 sport wagon is just over the 65k mile mark. So far so good. The only repairs I had was last year w/ the NOx sensors and transfer case replaced at 54k miles. Good thing my extended warranty covered it. Whew..

Seems im not the only one with the transfer case issue. It kept looking and didn't find much. I had to have mine replace at 65k miles. Right now the NOx sensor is setting off my CEL. Other than that no problems! Im at 69k miles now.

I have a 2013 320d and I just hit 116xxxkms. No problems so far and fingers crossed it stays that way! It's worth mentioning that I never did any extra oil changes or services besides whenever the car told me it needed a service 😁

1) N47 appears to have had continued timing chain problems, up until 2012/2014 or so. 2) All USA/CA 328d (320d) have Blue Performance. Maintenance costs on that system can be very high, over $7500 in some cases. 3) All USA/CA 328d have the heavier-duty cooling system and other "performance" parts (that's actually a plus). 4) USA cars have different DPF/DOC. 5) USA cars have different controllers on EGR, Turbo, etc. They're all electrical/electronic whereas the EU cars are vacuum-driven. There are enough detail changes you really can't compare the two. |

What are the symptoms of a transfer case issue?
I am having this issue: When moderately/heavy accelerating in a low-mid speed somewhat tight corner, I can feel the car doing a hesitation like the tranny is slipping or the fuel is being turned off/on quickly. It will do this thru the corner until I back off the gas or the corner is gone. Perhaps the Xdrive is hunting for the correct axle to power? I don't have ANYTHING close to tire slippage under these conditions, but I don't think the car is behaving properly when it has this issue. That is, I don't think BMW designed the system to feel like this when I get this power train feeling. The car now has 40.5K and is under warrantee for a while. I want to resolve this before the warrantee expires. Any thoughts? Anyone else ever experience this? |

Just hit 70K miles on my 2014, only had to get a NOx sensor replaced at 30K. And the oil pan because the last dealer service under warranty stripped the pan...
So far, so good. |

I'm not sure where these other cases are published (I look at 4 forums... lost), but a Google search should turn them up. |

There, the techs traced the problem to a defective transfer case. (The shudder disappeared when they disconnected the control module, thereby briefly turning our wagon into a rear-driver. Does that mean the car would just keep running without any issues and the car would be a fully functioning rear wheel drive car? That doesn't sound so bad. |
