Tune Advice Requested

Advice needed. Just bought a f30 335i xdrive 6MT with adaptive suspension, completely stock. Don't have any plans for crazy mods. Maybe just an intake and exhaust down the line. Looking for a tune to simply give me more power without any weird power curve or negative impact on reliability. I was planning on spending the big bucks on Dinan but the factory warranty period is almost over so I don't really need their warranty guarantee. Don't need any data logging, don't need a custom tune. Dad with 2 car seats here. I just upgraded (if you can call it that) from an e46 ZHP. Advice appreciated!

Tunes will generally fall into 2 categories ... piggyback or flash tune. Generally speaking flash tunes are safer and (usually) smoother power delivery/curve, while giving you more options. However they are usually a bit more $ and involved (piggy backs are generally plug and play, whereas flash tunes require flashing/uploading of the tune into the DME/ECU, which could be more work).

Nowadays, most people will advise you to get a flash tune such as BM3 or MHD or AA, especially as your warranty is expiring soon. I think BM3 is probably most popular flash tune on these forums and fellow members seem to love it.

However, for best "value", something like the JB+ (or dinan sport tuner) would be your best bet. It's just a simple boost controller, and tricks the DME/ECU into providing more boost (costs ~$150-200, adjustable from +1 to +4 psi). If you want something more complex, the JB Stage 1 or JB4 are the next steps up in the piggyback world and many people still love and use both of them.

I second his response ^^^ but want to add that increasing boost, I would recommend adding a new charge pipe on your mod list.

Start with a Jb+, takes minutes to install
We offer it with 14 days money back guarantee.

If you feel like you need more power, send it back and get a Jb4 or a flash tune like Active Autowerke or Bootmod3

Have you looked at BM3?

JB4/JB1 are also great choices..

I plan on going with BM3 eventually, only for its popularity. I was trying to find a list of OTS's and corresponding suggested mods but can't find it. Link anyone?

Just ordered Dinan springs and bump stops. Next is shockware. And then BM3...

Here is screenshots from my BM3 app of the list of OTS tunes. generally stage 1 you can run can run completely stock but a charge pipe is highly recommended because the factory will break from the increased boost. stage 2 Reccomends an intercooler and high flow downpipe. Stage 2H requires an upgraded turbo and the recommend mods from Stage 2.

Question about BM3 and Sport Button and throttle response.

Stock comfort mode has dulled throttle response and stock sport mode has more responsive throttle response. With BM3, does this still apply? Or is the throttle response the same in comfort mode and sport mode with BM3?

Can someone confirm that installing BM3 after shockware does not delete shockware?

What is the correct order of installation? BM3 first then Shockware or Shockware first then BM3? Or does the order not matter?
