I've had the oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, and ZF 8HP45 replaced under warranty. Good luck getting the ZF 8HP45 replaced if you're tuned. The cost of the replacement will almost certainly make it a PUMA case and BMW will look at bit closer since the failure rate on the transmissions for a stock car are extremely low. But it's not so much the case if you're tracking the car. |

OP, I come to you from X3-land to say I'm sorry to hear about this and glad you're getting back on the road soon. 3.2K is peanuts for a brand new B58.
I'm also sorry that you're having to deal with Captain Hindsight who loves to find every post on this forum in order to flex his ego and how much better he is than all of us for kissing BMW's rear. Quite annoying isn't he? I went through a somewhat similar issue with my N55, turbo failed and I've got a downpipe, so they blamed it on that. I'm confident the turbo was already failing, and ironically they didn't recommend replacing the downpipe which supposedly caused the failure. It's comical. I wonder how long it will be before people throw the Magnussen-Moss act in their faces... what they are doing is illegal. I'm upgrading to PS2 which is a little pricy, but thankfully no engine damage occurred and I'll be back on the road this weekend.

You might need to read it a little more carefully. The Act goes both ways. Yes, they can't deny your warranty just because you have aftermarket mods (how would an intake cause a failed window motor?), but they don't have to do any deep diving either to justify/prove. Ex: you have a JB4/ECU tune. Your engine blows. They do not have to get logs of AFR/oil pressure/etc. They can just simply say you modified the cars stock programming. You have on a DP, which comes almost immediately after the turbo. It's an exhaust part and the turbo is part of the exhaust. Again, no deep diving necessary, they can just use that as proof. I also suspect this was their reasoning for denying OP's claim. The intake is responsible for supplying the engine (turbo first I guess) with fresh, cool air. Even though there might not be a CEL, OP modified a part involved in that critical path.

On the street it's hard to use that much wide open throttle without getting arrested, beaten and having your car impounded. So not too worried about the longevity of the motor as long as there is not something majorly wrong with the tune. |

read a couple of posts about misfire on B58 engines, pulled the error codes, swapped coil packs around and even spark plugs but, did not fix or let the error reset. Error was for cylinder #1, turned out......new engine, zero compression on #1 cylinder. $24K all covered under warranty from BMW dealership. Car was purchased by myself in Germany, and brought back, US Spec, 2016 340ix M Sport, 31K miles.

I guess I can't read. He only has two posts and both say the same thing. He read a few posts about misfires, tried toubleshooting on his end but the misfires stayed on cyl 1, so they got a new engine but it had no compression on cyl 1 again? I'm also having a hard time wrapping my head around 1 engine replacement costing half the price of the vehicle.

Had my Engine replace for $28,000 Canadian.
Dinan covered it, though BMW here said the cause was manufacturer, but Canada BMW voids powertrain with any modification to the engine. My problem was with the turbo self-destructing, and sent a bunch of metal shards into the engine. The throttle body was dented too by the turbo nut. Now I have a 2019 production engine, which I assume has slightly less issues. |

First time I've heard of Dinan paying for warranty work like that. Great to hear they're honoring their side of things.

440i Engine
Hi All
I’m from UK and have a 440i. 2018 model with 13k on it now. It has been a delight to own until recently when it started to run ‘lumpy’ at 1000 Rpm. End result is, there is an issue with no 5 cyclinder. There is a new engine going in it this week. Regards. |

Hi
All covered under warranty. No 5 cylinder is sooted up with no apparent reason why. The head was taken away for measurement but seemed ok. Anyone else having similar issues? |
