The less populated counties only do safety checks.

So with that being said, I've lived in the Houston metropolitan area as long as I've been driving (20+ years) and never have they once actually looked for the emissions components. All they have ever done is plug in the machine and check the OBD status on 1996+ newer vehicles. I've removed catalytic converters, EGR, AIR systems, EVAP, even tuned out the secondary O2 sensors and still pass as long as I've fooled the engines computer into thinking that everything is there and working properly.
Yup, totally agree, all about checking local requirements. If you live in an ozone nonattainment area, your I&M (inspection and maintenance) requirements will be much more strict than an adjacent county in the same state. So its about more than checking even state requirements.

Uh what? You first need to confirm your local requirements to figure out how many monitors can be not ready (if any). Then from there figure out your solution. The easiest thing may be to just swap back in the OEM DP. You may or not may need to remove BM3, which you can easily do yourself, depending on your state/local requirements.

I'm posting on someone's else's behalf, of course.
I personally abide by all laws, rules and regulations.

While this might not work for all. Those living in states that allow for 1 "not ready" sensor, it should.

Unnamed person has a 340i with a B58, catless DP and BM3 tune. To pass IL emissions, person flashed the stock tune and left all settings at OEM, then in the DTC Deactivation area, entered the codes as pictured. Performed a drive cycle on the way to work and then again on the way to the emissions station.
ODBII Scan tool was used prior to testing to confirm system was ready as it was gonna get.
This resulted in a PASS with no CEL or codes thrown.

Hope this helps some people that don't want to crawl under their car to reinstall their OEM DP just for emissions.

Inspection "Readiness" on custom flash possible?

I have a 2017 440i with an aftermarket catted (high flow) DP and Bootmod3. My mechanic says that there are no fault codes, but it says it is 'not ready'.

Inspection time is coming up....

I found this guide on how to do a drive cycle. Hope this will help. https://www.instructables.com/How-to...or-Smog-Check/

However, is it possilble to do a drive cycle and get it into a readiness state without flashing back to the stock map? (I had some problem getting the stock map loaded last time I tried).

Your DP may not be "good enough" to get the monitor ready. Most catted DPs will not get the monitor ready. Fault codes and monitor readyness are two different things. You can not produce a fault code, but still not get the monitor ready, if catalyst efficiency is outside the DME limits for getting the monitor ready. If you are in California, you will definitely need to flash back to stock and relock the DME due to software check

Do you have the CEL OFF option set on BM3? If you haven’t reset codes recently, no reason you would have monitors not ready. If you turn off CEL with BM3, 1-2 of the monitors will always show not ready instead of throwing an error. Since you already have the OBD2 cord, you should check how many monitors are not ready. States like NY allow 1 monitor not ready. I recently passed with catted DP on a 340i on stage 1 BM3 (all monitor ready). I’ve never flashed my N55 or B58 to stock for emissions checks, always stage 1.

You didn’t specify which catted DP you have, as some of them will throw a CEL once you turn that option off in BM3, while some will not.

The thing i would add is that one reason his monitor would not be ready is if his catted DP isnt good enough. If its not AA or fabspeed, its quite likely he will not be able to get the monitor ready.
